Classic is boring

and I am being completely honest about that statement. I’m not too sure of the appeal behind it. I started playing in MoP so I went into Classic blinded basically. I tried my best to see what I could get out of it and it was just boring. It’s missing many of the good things that the later and current versions of the game have and the “collectx/y” or “kill x/y” quests can drag on. I got my Gnome Mage to level 15 after about 2-3 hours and I couldn’t keep playing because I was just that bored. I guess I could see how this would appeal to a certain group of people back in 2004-2007, but it just wasn’t for me. Not to also mention that it will never be updated outside of the Classic expansion, at least from what I’ve read.

I know this type of thread can be controversial, but I felt like just giving out my opinion about it. Does anyone else have the same thoughts?

Its not for everyone. But some of us can only grind so much AP till we need something else.

I think the entire appeal of Classic is through the difficulty, and the way it forces you to interact with people around you. I started in BC and lost interest in retail after MoP. A lot of the charm of the game was lost for me after the Cata rehaul. While I think the questing is clearly better in modern WoW, and a lot of the QoL stuff is nice, there’s just a lack of mystery, exploration, and community in modern WoW that I think makes classic appealing.

Anyway, different strokes and all.

many of us who played back then tried to tell y’all but ya didn’t listen

for those who want to go back to that, good for you and i am glad you enjoy it. for the rest of us who like QoL changes and new content, good for us.

Something tells me the BFA content you’re doing at 363iLvl isn’t very exciting either. Also, where are the GDers to tell us that this is the wrong forum? Does that only apply to positive Classic posts on the GD?

In Classic, you play in the story. In BFA, the story revolves around you. Being an unbeatable demigod in the world is more boring to me than anything. For as long as that keeps up, the only thing I will ever do is raid log.

Well Classic is not for everyone. But if you could only get to 15 and gave up, then you have to know you are missing out on the majority of the experience.

I’ve found that the game gets more fun over time as my character unlocks new spells and abilities. Giving me more ways to tackle challenges. And with the difficulty of this game, you have to be a crafty to get by sometimes. Its satisfying.

As you can tell by my crap warrior, I left mid WoTLK because I hated it… I will never leave classic as long as they continue to provide the service.

I THINK classic would be more fun and unsloggish IF the mount thing wasnt like it is.
I LIKE the game mechanics…and leveling speed is good.
But 14 trips across the barrens on foot and Im looking for a matchbook so I can burn the whole place down.

I dont expect travel time can be fixed without ruining the classic experience for those who wanted it back. So Im sticking to retail.

Part of classic leveling is figuring out how to make the most efficient use of your travel time. This is completely intentional and one of the reasons why man people refer to leveling guides if they want to use their time most efficiently.

movement speed affects everything you do in classic wow so it’s why mounts are such a huge deal.

At level 44 I’m still having a blast. Some people will not like Classic; others, like myself will love it.

whats boring is a game where you cant die, told what to do, and never lose mana.
please stick to retail and give us less queues

It’s more boring to have the level cap be a grind rather than hitting the level cap and being told to grind for hours on end to finish one spec’s toolkit because your talents and skills have been distributed to other endgame content?

What?

Funny you started in Mop and I hated mop so much I didn’t sub again until Legion. Now I don’t even play retail anymore. 100% Classic from here on out. And I’m never looking back.

thee is nothing to do in retail except do a mario speed run dungeon for a rng lootbox at the end of the week.

I’d argue that Classic’s appeal is the latter and only the latter, while retail’s appeal is the first.

Classic’s social interaction is what makes it such a good game, but I think retail has way more difficulty than Classic does. The first MC clear one-shotted everything.

The social aspect is what makes the game though, not the difficulty!

You misspelled BFA

WHEW! That was a close one. For a second there, I thought this was going to be a dishonest thread.

As was predicatively stated dozens of times before classic even released, there will be hundreds if not thousands of people like you OP who don’t see the appeal in classic.

You will then move move back to retail or or something else.

For the rest of us, we’re having an absolute blast and I for one can’t wait for the content to come in the 6 phase release.

Not sure what else to respond with, so catch ya on the flip side OP <3
