Classic is a massive failure - and heres why

I played vanilla in 2005-2007 and it was fun. I played on Scriptcraft on 2012 and it was fun. I played classic in 2019 and it wasn’t.

Layering? I hated the idea, but I trusted that Activision knew what they’re doing.

Phase 2? I was consistently top 5 standings on Kirtonos. I saw how abysmal the faction imbalance is. Yet I pushed on - surely it would get better once BGs are released.

BGs? 25 minute queues for Alterac Valley to kill NPCs. People AFK. Botting. No punishment for them. No interest in Warsong on Horde side - it’s far less honor. At this point I am starting to doubt that whoever the shot caller over at Activision is knows what they’re doing.

But the nail in the coffin for me? These:

3% hit - none from talents.

I’m no mathematician, but i had a buddy calculate the chance of what happened in the first picture: its less than 1/25,000. The second and third happened within the next two days.

I’m now completely sold that Classic is nothing like the original version of the game. They got it worse than then, and worse than what the private server devs did.

I know that BWL is almost out, that AB will be released eventually, and theres something around the corner. But Activision, you should be embarrassed about your track record. I certainly wont have faith in you anymore. Anyone else would be a fool to.

The players know its a failure. Does Activision? If they do - they are a bad company and have failed to correct their wrongs. If they dont - they’re a bad company and - well - you can finish that thought out.

A poster on the general forums declaring Classic is a failure because they were personally inconvenienced, must be literally any time of day at all.

Let alone most of the playerbase who actually supported the no changes philosophy.

Yes. Quit the game. The more rankers like you suffer, the better I feel. You and a comparatively small number of rankers completely destroyed the game experience for a huge number of players. I am overjoyed that ranking requires unhealthy hours. I am overjoyed that PvP is a disgusting mess. I hope that all you rankers start hating your life before you quit the game forever.

Zero sympathy.

Do we? I think it is an overwhelming success.

Considering that thousands upon thousands (10s or 100s of thousands or more) lines of server-side code that would create spell behavior, etc. had to be developed, and was by many different people, some of who(m) likely never played actual Vanilla WoW, and a lot of who(m) were likely novice/new developers, the probability of private server behavior being the same as actual Vanilla WoW is astronomically low.

Much, much lower evern than someone having a decent memory of Vanilla behavior 15 years after the fact.

Financially sure.

But to say the game is following the same patch history and following the no changes rule is not true.

Fair, my post was very misleading to what i actually meant to say.

I’m saying Classic wow breaks the no changes rule quite often, and i think that it’s terrible since it’s a product meant to capture a super old game.

Objectively, both.

The honor system rewards deviant behavior, and I use the word “deviant” only to avoid a forum vacation. That said, partaking in such behavior is player choice. And based on my understanding, the ranking process in vanilla was far less disruptive to the world at large, even with the same system in place. So it is a community issue.

I cannot argue that changes definitely exist in Classic from what Vanilla was. Some, such as being able to search in bags, undeleting deleted characters, being able to trade looted BoP items with people in your raid, etc. don’t seem to be complained about often.

Could I complain about things if I wanted to? Absolutely, but I’m rather enjoying Classic for what it is, and having fun.

Already got people that reply to threads they don’t read and retail avatars telling you to quit. Just like clockwork.

On topic. For the first time ever in all my time playing this game, a tauren RESISTED my blind. Was kinda in shock about it.
