This is probably a stupid post you can just go ahead and close because rules are rules. I would like to be heard out on a negative experience I am having as a new player. I jumped straight into HC realms and rolled on the one i had best ping on,(Defias Pillager) for safety, made and orc warrior because I like the Horde lore. The issue is, the horde pop on this server is quite low, the server seems to prefer alliance. This makes finding groups extremely difficult for horde. I just don’t understand why it’s not possible for a transfer to another HC server like Doomhowl since they have a plentiful horde pop. I just feel like my only mistake was being a noob player and not looking up the server populations before creating my character. Anyways, apologies for wasting your time, I would greatly appreciate any action being taken to prevent this happening to more players in the future. Like something that indicates Horde pop vs Alliance when you are creating a character.
You created your character on what is essentially the ERA HC server. While it sucks that you created your character in a quieter realm, HC doesn’t have the option to transfer to other HC servers, and certainly won’t be able to transfer to a fresh server. Blizzard is never going to allow people to transfer from ERA type servers to a fresh server, as it completely defeats the entire premise of having fresh servers.
Generally it’s pretty easy to see how strong a population a server has is, this can help you decide before you actually level if people are there. Here are some simple things to look at:
- How many people are in Org or IF/SW (depending which side your looking at)
- What’s on the AH, if there isn’t much there, its an indication of a low population
- Do a /who on several zones, it can tell you how many people are leveling, you can also check dungeons that you like to go to
- Do a /who 60 during the time you will be typically on, it will tell you how much of an end game you will have.
Personally I am against fresh servers as it creates problems like this. I would like to tell you that eventually we might be able to transfer between the servers, but honestly it’s just as likely not going to happen. That all said, most of what HC is about is the journey and your personal quest. While raiding does occur, by far the majority of people will never proceed past 60 dungeons, so start over if you want on the busier server, you really haven’t lost much.
