Everyone likes to flame me for wanting this change in 1.12.0 because it’s “bad” but yet Blizzard keeps “bad” changes in Classic because “that’s how it was”. So, because “that’s how it was”, I want Blizzard to add this change back.
Prior to patch 2.2.0 a player could become friendly or higher with both Centaur clans at the same time, by having someone else in a party kill a member of the Gelkis or Magram, which would cause the player to gain reputation with one Centaur clan, while not losing reputation with the other. As of patch 2.2 the player will gain and lose reputation regardless of who in the party actually does the killing. This also worked with rep for Bloodsail Buccaneers/Steamwheedle Cartel, Ravenholdt/Syndicate, and other similar factions (if there are any I may have missed some).
From patch 2.2.0 notes
• If you get a positive reputation from combat you also get the corresponding opposite reputation reduction.
I want this change back because I am trying to max every reputation and with this change I’m not able to. But I should be able to because that’s how it was.
Too late, people would have already started doing it the long way
I don’t see this happening. This has exploit/unintended mechanic written all over it.

And Juju Flurry reducing your dps is an intended mechanic? Blizzard has very obviously shown us they are keeping unintended mechanics in Classic because that’s how it was back then. This is no different.
Can’t compare other crap to this. The rep system is a pretty big choice to make. Want Bloodsail rep? Well the goblins are going to hate you. It’s literally a tic for a tac system.
Having someone else in party to “beat” that system is an intentional exploit.
That’s as clear of a case as you’re going to get.
I think it’s more of a challenge to get someone else to grind rep for you. They have to do the whole grind with you. Maybe unintended but it makes for more impressive achievements.
Interesting way to look at it. I mean it did work like a buddy system. Lol
And on top of that you have to find a guy who wants to tank his rep while you reap all the rewards. Who’s gonna ruin their boating experience for someone else to have a meaningless rep?
You will get any unintended mechanics in the VERSION of TBC released
Same as how CLASSIC works
We dont get 1.05 stuff, only 1.12
This mechanic existed in 1.12
yes but that is 1.12 vanilla
did it still exist in 2.4.x or what ever TBC?
btw, i have rep with both of those, the guys from desolace right?
not great rep mind you, i gave up on them
This mechanic was changed in 2.2.0. Not sure what you’re getting at.
