Classic Fresh Server with No World Buffs

I do not think you need world buffs to skip ragnaros submerge phase in 1.12 at all.

Edit: I just want to reiterate: OP asked for a server without world buffs and while that certainly helps making it a tad more challenging, the raids are still undertuned for 1.12 and even a server without world buffs would not be such a tremendous difference compared to what we have now. It will only become difficult in naxx again, when you can not brute force bosses anymore.

World buffs ruin the game but Blizzard won’t do anything. And I’m not going to argue with people who don’t even raid telling me they’re optional.

Wearing armor is optional, but not wearing armor is stupid, and you’re never going to be invited to a raid if you refuse to equip half your gear. It doesn’t matter if Onyxia can be killed naked or not.

So join a community (guild) that doesn’t require world buffs. Problem solved.

I’ve literally never seen any pug do this.

If true the servers without world buffs would be dead if the majority wants the buffs.

He’s a L11 troll. Likely a retailer who simply trolls the classic forum.

Listen, I don’t understand why people are opposed to a server with the option of no world buffs. As soon as I saw op’s post I knew people would still come in the thread to find some way to go against it. It literally harms no one. The only reason you wouldn’t want this idea is if you literally want people to be miserable or want classic to fail.

Who is “opposed” to it?

You’re trying to play devil’s advocate to op for seemingly no reason. World buffs are what everyone compares your parse to. Guilds/pugs expect you to have world buffs if you have advance notice of the raid. It’s not hard to see why he would want a server without them.

But there’s a “no world buff option,” and parses themselves are optional.

There are plenty of Guilds / pugs that simply do not care. On my alt, we take anyone, world buff or not.

It’s also not hard to just play without world buffs as it currently stands. Maybe I’m missing something… but I just don’t see why these servers are needed.

The vast majority of people will expect you to have world buffs and will look at your parses on world of logs. The only way this could not be your experience is if you play on a dead or bad server.

It’s peer pressure. Nothing need be said. But people look at the logs and form opinions about people. They see someone without world buffs and/or someone not using consumables or someone without enchants on their gear, and they think, lazy player, doesn’t care about his contribution to the team, here to be carried by those that do. People don’t want others to think about them in this way, so they get the world buffs. And this peer pressure effect ripples across every server.

The person who used the armor analogy above was spot on. You wouldn’t show up to a raid not wearing all of your armor, would you? You don’t HAVE to wear armor in every slot. There’s no rule. But everyone does. Because they don’t want others thinking ill of them. It’s a team game, we’re very social creatures, and peer pressure is a powerful thing.

Yes and no. Having full world buffs isn’t as common, especially given the state of Naxx right now. But at least Ony/Nef and ZG is enough and it persists through dispels, which is key for PvP servers (like mine). They’re also pretty easy to get all things considered.

Songflower is nice, as are DM buffs (for many classes/specs), but not entirely necessary. And trying to go for DMF when it’s the enemy faction’s turn is suicidal.

Awesome idea, albeit it would be actively rejected by the vast majority of players.

Most players loathe spending so much gold and time preparing for raids.
Removing World Buffs would essentially quadruples+ the gold cost of raiding.

I give you +1 for an idea that by itself is good.
But, I can tell you that I don’t think this idea will end up being accepted.

I’ve never been one to succomb to peer pressure, so perhaps it is for that reason, I don’t understand the want or need.

That’s not a good analogy at all… you’re comparing just simply wearing all the armor you have vs. investing hours of your life into getting world buffs. Peer pressure has a limited power.

Who would ever take advice from someone who claims to be immune to peer pressure?

That’s like saying you are above listening to other people.

Who would ever take your advice?

I didn’t offer any. And lots of people have taken my advice over the years, it typically works out well for them. Lmk if you’re interested in engaging in my argument instead of resorting to personal attacks.

Would it bother you if they existed? Because it seems like it would for some reason.

There’s a difference between peer pressure and constructive criticism. There are plenty of guilds that don’t pressure their raiders to get all world buffs, they’re just usually not as progressed or as successful because they don’t get sweaty with it.

My guild doesn’t really pressure their raiders for WBs - they do for consumes of course - but we’re 15/15 regardless. Virtually everyone on our team gets WBs because we all care to, but if someone can’t for some reason or didn’t manage to one week we don’t demonize them or harass them for it.

We’re a team, not a middle school.

How is that a personal attack?

I mean literally, define what a personal attack is?

Also, advice and feedback are essentially synonymous.
