Classic Fresh Changes/Ideas

Hello everyone, I wanted to compile a bunch of ideas for upcoming classic servers to see how the community feels about them. The following ideas below, I believe, Blizzard can make without much effort which would improve the quality of the game significantly:

  1. Remove mage boosting with one of the following methods:
  • If someone in the party is 10~ levels higher than the lowest level player, then xp is disabled.
  • Reduce/disable xp in dungeons, but buff quest xp to compensate.
  • Buff quest xp so dungeons are not the most efficient way to level.
  • Only allow players within the dungeon’s level range to enter (example: deadmines, only levels 15-24 may enter).
  • Fix mob pathing and/or add ranged mobs.
  • Nerf mage slows/roots so they are unable to kite mobs effectively (example: aoe cap for frost nova / nerf improved blizzard).
  1. World buffs:
  • Chronoboon from the very beginning.
  • Remove world buffs entirely (this would indirectly make raid encounters more difficult).
  • Have world buffs sold by a vendor on a cooldown.
  • Disable world buffs upon entering a 40 man raid (people could still use buffs for leveling, dungeons, 20 mans, etc.)
  1. Expanding on World buffs. If Blizzard intend to keep world buffs, perhaps they could allow them to persist through death. This would still making it punishing to die as you would lose time on your buffs; however, it wouldn’t feel as bad to lose all your buffs entirely.

  2. Make raid mechanics percentage based rather than time based. For example have Ragnaros submerge every 25%.

  3. Guild Banks.

  4. Implement the group finder from retail. Please note that I’m not referring to the tool that automatically places you in a group and teleports you to the dungeon. I’m referring to the tool that allows you to select your role, add a note, and let people know you’re interested in a dungeon/raid.

  5. Instant mail.

  6. Remove debuff limit.

  7. Make respecs either free or very low cost.

  8. Barbershop.

The ideas below are things I don’t think Blizzard will implement; however, they are fun ideas to talk about:

  • More GM’s to handle bots / better bot detection.
  • Improve certain specs. Improve mana regen for boomkin/shadow priest, higher base damage for ret pally/ enhance shaman, etc.
  • Class quality of life changes primarily from tbc. For example, 30 minute buffs for shamans/paladins, totem gcd, reduced mana cost for buffs, mage table, warlock soulwell, druid regular rez, increased poison duration for rogues, add spell power to healing gear etc.
  • Class abilities from future expansions (bladestorm, starfall, shadowstep, dragons breath, etc.).
  • Cap server populations, max 60/40.
  • New dungeons/raids. Scarlet Crusade max level dungeon/raid, Naga raid, Ogre raid, Furbolg raid in azshara, Defias Brotherhood max level dungeon/raid, Kara Crypts raid, dark iron dwarf raid, emerald dream, grim batol, etc. The ideas here are endless.
  • Rewards for killing enemy capital leaders / more pvp objectives in the world.
  • Remove the honor system and replace it with rated battlegrounds. Disable overpowered consumables and trinkets in this game mode.
  • Reduce the duration of CC’s and implement tbc values (1 minute sheeps aren’t fun lol).
  • Spontaneous events (similar to GW2). Defend goldshire from defias bandits / defend crossroads from quillboars/centaurs. After the event you are rewarded with xp depending on your contributions.
  • Profession system similar to tbc / add jewelcrafting.
  • More legendaries (rogue daggers, hunter ranged weapon, tanking shield, etc.).
  • New classes (blade dancer, necromancer, engineer, battle mage, guardian, bard, etc.)
  • +50-100% bonus xp tabards (maybe different colours/designs?) only purchasable by level 60’s.
  • Battlegrounds reward xp and/or turn in marks for xp.
  • Revamp certain items from quest rewards, dungeons, and raids.
  • Change materials needed for the AQ gates event.
  • Rare pets/mounts/tabards for completing difficult content. Perhaps clearing a raid in a certain amount of time?
  • Weekly 1v1/2v2/3v3 tournament in Gurubashi arena. Pay a certain amount of gold to enter and top 3 split the gold.
  • More world bosses that grant your faction a reward. (All characters on your faction gain +25% xp for a day, bonus chance to skill up professions, increased movement speed in outdoor content, etc.)
  • Paladin for horde and shaman for alliance.
  • 100% speed swimming mount (turtle?) from STV fishing event.
  • Mythic dungeons. Not like mythic+ with timers from retail, but more mechanics, higher damage, and higher health values. Maybe add an optional timed mode for a title?
  • Badges from dungeons that can be used to purchase profession materials, consumables, tabards, pets, etc.
  • Winterspring Saber equivalent for the Horde.
  • One hardcore mode server (death=delete). When you hit level 60 you have the option to transfer to a normal server with with the “Immortal” title for reaching 60 without dying.
  • Tier tokens.
  • Make certain flightpaths shorter.
  • Perhaps add cross realm LFG tool for lower level dungeons during Ph4 or Ph5 since the leveling scene will slow down.
  • Poker/blackjack casino at Capital Inns.
  • Racing event in the shimmering flats (bet gold?).

I’d like to hear what you all think and what ideas you all have for future iterations of Classic WoW.

put stuff in-game that people use as an addon that is currently in retail. :woman_shrugging:

Nerfing classes because people exploited it is not a good thing, same with World buffs. I know I have said I think if they changed the WB, that it will be a good thing. This just happened to be caused by the players, not blizzard. A lot, if not all, of the things you want changed are because of the players. The issue is finding people that are not trying to min/max the heck out of everything.

if they keep world buffs, just make them easier to get.
—No Ony head drop CD
—Have the ony buff or ZG buff be receivable once for several minutes after a drop by just talking to the NPC and asking for it, no more missing drops by seconds.
—The ogre near the chest in DMT gives all 3 buffs, keeping hunters’ buff selling service.
—WCB Alliance equivalent.
—Songflower remains clickable for 60 seconds after the first buff goes out.
—Chrono-boon is reusable
