Classic Forever: The Future of Classic Servers

This is not a Classic character.

What numbers? I said “lots”. In addition to p-server history, you can find many examples of players requesting fresh in this very forum.

My point remains: not only you are “hard against” something that doesn’t impact you, but you are basing it on the false assumption that only gold farmers would want it. Then you take the smearing even further by asserting that those with full time jobs wouldn’t be able to play fresh – implying that those who can are freeloaders, or something.

In short, you are a bigot with no cogent argument. Just stop talking.

Private server history? Is this a joke?

I came from a private server and there were many people like myself that hated fresh. Sadly we had no choice because the small handful of the population who were guild officers basically shoved their opinion on everyone.

For each new request of fresh on this forum there is another 10 who do not want fresh.

Your point is invalid and hypocritical. Imagine forcing other people to start from ground zero again and negatively influencing the community to play something they don’t want.

Freeloaders? Because people can reach rank 14, get all time bis in each and every phase in a short time, and no lifing is not needed to have those accomplishments amirite?

How about you stop talking Mr. Retail?

You make me smile. I haven’t played retail since Legion (which is where this character is from).

Forcing people to start from ground zero? What are you on about? People who want to start fresh, can start fresh. People who would rather continue at P6, can do so. This is the basically the concept of seasons, which is what the OP is proposing. It is well known, and successful in many games.

And who said anything about getting Rank 14 and full BiS every time? What about just enjoying the successive phases?

Look, whatever. You clearly have your own, warped ideas of fresh.

You make me cringe.

Start fresh? Please give me a reason to start fresh. Between spending 30006 hours refarming gold or 10001 hours regrind ing epics or…
Or… Wait. Levelling experience? World pvp?

You can already do that without a fresh server. You can also reroll on a low population realm.

So what justifies a fresh realm? So u want server firsts? Server firsts were more than 12 years ago. Do you want to profit off gold? Seems possible.

What cause do you have for a fresh classic server if not to grief other players or stand to gain something out of it, apart from the very obvious fact that all of these can already be found on soon to be coming existing classic era servers?

This is an MMO. Not Diablo 3.

I can smell toxicity. Especially fresh ones.

It’s quite simple: the fresh server “feel”. A window of time where people do not immediately have access to, well, everything. A chance for a good-faith community. For the PvPers: pre-phase-2 wPvP. Seeing the “story” (such as it is ) unfold, again – unlocking the gates, for example. You can find some of this, but certainly not all of it, by re-rolling on a P6 and/or low pop realm.

But, again: you have decided that there is no good reason for a fresh server. You are projecting your own biases. Imagine assuming that no one could possibly want a fresh server for any reason other than to grief others. That’s sad, bro.

I think the inter-connected realms is something that will definitely happen. They mentioned at the blizzcon round table thing that its easy to do with the cloud tech they have to let people on different realms play together, they do it in retail already.

Anything else I’m unsure on, it probably depends where most of the player base is in the long run. TBC and Wrath probably gives them enough to do for the next 3-4 years.

I don’t think there’s really any point to starting on a fresh server. The nef and ony head, and hakkar heart, pretty much guarantees you will be able to gear up if the servers are opened up so you can group with other realms. Because speed runners love those buffs.

Connected realms would be fine with me. Personally though I would prefer and outright merger. Allow the first character to log in to keep their name, subsequent duplicate names would be forced to change. I find the realm qualifier after a name to be cumbersome.

As to fresh realms: I am fine if they decide to create one. But for me, no thanks, I have plenty of things I enjoy and don’t want to start over. I do have alts that I can level when I want that experience.

Are you hearing yourself right now?

The “Feel” really?

You don’t want access to everything? Well good news my friend. You can choose selective raiding.

A good -faith community? I don’t think so. This has got to be the worst type of community and the most toxic type. I would rather join a community where trust is open, and transparent.

You want big world events like AQ gates? Just have it implemented once every 2 years as part of classic era world events. Open the room for classic + that adds to the existing game experience without implementing new gear and drastic game experience change. You don’t need fresh servers for that.

We do have pre-phase 2 wpvp. It is called world defense channel :smileevenbigger: You can also chose to gank people in the open world and form a group.

You can find all of it, you just need to know where to look.

Let me turn the tables around and put it this way, because you decided to screw with all the players wanting to play classic era by creating false hype and get people to play your seasonal servers. There has never been a good or logical reason for fresh servers ever.

You want fresh servers? Can you please go to TBC? I bet you if fresh TBC was an option instead of classic you’d see gold sellers like yourself migrating there instead keeping wow classic a healthy place to be in.

Please stop projecting your bias on other people. Imagine imagining people wanting fresh servers.

But this is exactly my issue with the merges.

Lets say, we have 6 realms that are connected. In the past, those six realms each had a few guilds going for world bosses. They also had some bots farming herbs and of course normal players gathering things.

In the future, all those bots, guilds, people will be on the same realm with the same respawn timers. This will create a mess, as the respawn times are just not balanced for so many sources.

If you are unlucky and your realm is merged with a streamer server, then you can say goodbye to ever seeing a world boss again, as that guild will block everyone. Same applies to other situations in wow.
On my realm we had no Lotus Mafia, we could all farm that herb. If our realm is now connected to a realm with a Mafia, we will never be able to get that flower again, as we all share the same respawn timer.

This is what I am worried about.

i believe those new connected realms dont have their old identity anymore, streamers will progress to TBC, they need new content, tryhard will progress, bots will do the same coz their customers are the crowd progressing… those new connected realms wont fell like any other single realm from current classic, from what i see in the classic forever discord ppl staying are the ones that dont like boost, metas like world buff…, they want to experience the game in a different way, leveling in their own pace, no rush, doing dungeons, exploring the world. Looks like the classic era population are more engaged in the rpg and the adventure than in being world first, top dps, best player…

the ones that rushed all vanilla content playing 24/7 already got everything they want , got burn out too soon and they want new content, it wont take long to ask till they ask for wotlk coz tbc itself has less content than vanilla.

You can try the RP Servers. They weren’t listed to be “connected”. I do see you’re on Faerlina, you can try either Grobb or DD. As they’re both RP-PvP Servers. Though, they might become “connected”, as they are both RP-PvP. I’d offer BB but…we don’t engage in PvP Server Ruleset, though we are the one and only.

i would like to try a rp server, my only concern is the population size, of course i dont need/want a mega server like pre-tbc faerlina but at least a healthy population size… lets see how things settle, i am considering a transfer to another realm with a more chill mindset.

The streamer thing in faerlina never bothered me, i dont know any btw, but it is a realm with a more hardcore mindset and i never liked to follow metas

Grobb is considered High Pop.
BB is considered Medium Pop (dunno why people keep saying it’s “Low Pop”).
DD is considered Low Pop.

Hope that helps.

i mean the pouplation in Classic Era

I think they should have just had free transfers to so many servers to run perpetual classic on forever, closed the rest and then used those servers to have fresh start on.
