It seems that the classic installation folder is now the BC client? Automatically upgraded from Classic to BC. If I select Classic, there’s now an option to install that. I would’ve thought there would be a classic folder and maybe a classicbc folder or something. WoWUp now thinks Classic is BC. Just trying to get all this sorted before go time. Would still like to have a set of addons for both clients. I guess I’ll quickly go back them up haha.

It has been known for ages that classic would be moved into TBC. That would mean everything classic > TBC And you would need to reinstall classic if that was where you want to be. Just install classic and you will see a classic_era folder and copy paste your interface/addons and wtf folders from classic to classic_era and you should be good to go for classic.
Just waiting for addon managers to realize there are bc addons.

TBC is a different game from classic so a seperate installation would be the smart thing for blizz to do.
And they did it.
No doubt. I just expected to see a BC install and Classic client left as is that’s all. Trying to preserve my Classic client, and using this time to sort addons.
Classic Era is available for download, too. It goes into _classic_era_

They said that the current servers are progressing to TBC. The classic era servers are new.
So when WotLK Classic comes out “classic” becomes “WotLK”. Does “classic_era” stay as WoW Classic? And then does BC Classic become “classic_BC_era” or “classic_era2” or…? Seems like a dumb way of going about it when they could have simply made a new “classic_BC” folder now and just configured the client to point at the correct server.
That’s what I was expecting, because now addon managers will be fun to sort out. Oh well, minor inconvenience I suppose.
What? theyre doing what they did back in the day… progressing the game. classic era is a whole new thing.
