Classic Expansions

Hello fellow classic players it’s been a great 2 weeks of playing with y’all again. This is what retail has been missing a community willing to work together and help each other when needed! Love you guys now on to the topic!
I brought up this topic to my brothers in Mop, and now with alt universe sky is the limit. Let’s say the expansions we know don’t come in order like they do now in retail, and cata never happened. This giving us the systems we like about wow, the content we like, and most importantly the community. I think keeping close to the classic roots where everything can kill you and cc is key not how fast can you do it.
Oh yeah no flying would be great!
Love you guys see you out there.

No, no reason to do that. Yes to making LK and BC servers but thats it

Expansions are so depressing. They negate everything that came before it, and that makes me a sad cow.

Don’t be sad cow.! They don’t make good cheese!

If there’s going to be new content they should do it without expansions. The only point of expansions is for blizzard to get your 40 bucks.

Expanding on the current game can be done through alternate content and storylines through horizontal progression without level increases and powercreep. Your progress wouldn’t be negated it would just go this way >>> instead of that way ^

I think that’s a difficult concept for newer mmo players though and I can see why. You’ve never seen it done if you didn’t play older games.

Yeah it doesn’t have to be expansions, just big updates with new story leading to a new raid and a couple dungeons, etc.

I don’t think doing expansions would be good, but I would like a Classic+ where there is additional patch content added in the same spirit of vanilla WoW. Atunements, keys, social and server wide events.

I’d be interested in them going back and finishing areas and zones they originally wanted to do during vanilla also.

I would love an expansion with horizontal progression, but so far Blizzard hasn’t released that type of expansion. Also, been playing games far longer than I care to admit.

I would be down for content for classic. Like professions being updated with new stuff, new raids, hell they can even do a new bg stuff.

I didn’t mean to insinuate that you don’t get it. There are just many who wouldn’t.

Lol no worries, I just tossed that in there for some reason. What matters is that we’re on the same page  More people need to get on board with horizontal expansions

I perfectly ok with this as long as the game and community stay the same I’ll take it!

Am I in favor of classic expansions? (In the sense of adding to the game, but not using the streamline/QoL stuff the actual ones gave) No I am not.

Am I in favor of more classic content? Yes and no… I would not mind stuff like “1.13” “1.14” etc. with new raids in the spirit of classic, however I am against the addition of that because I know either Blizzard will screw it up, or players will ask for things to screw it up “Oh Blizzard can you pleeeeeease just add this ONE thing?” because we all know it won’t be one thing.

Agree with the people here it would be cool to have different gear types for new bosses so they are still worth doing for the set bonus but they don’t make the previous tier useless and dead content. This is the best way to move forward to keep it world of Warcraft and not world of current expansion

I think they could take bits and pieces…

There are already Dungeons and raids that were held off till BC. Those could be opened and tuned for level 60’s in Tier 3 gear. They could create better tier sets for hybrids, without having to do ridiculous class balances that lead to homogenization. They could create an alternative to leveling, like earning an extra 5-10 talent points to spend in the Classic trees, which would slightly expand your character without a level treadmill. Heck, if they really wanted they could create an entirely new zone, like a small island with high level content, but no major cities.

The biggest mistakes that expansions made were making content irrelevant, creating too many new territories with new cities, introducing a ridiculous amount of new races/classes, and scaling power creep to levels to the point that we had millions of health.

I was thinking that instead of scaling power, they could add more stats, resist based gear, etc. These new stats (at the same power level) could be used for new and interesting dungeons/raids.

Yeah, I was just tossing random thought. I’m not worried about it until I’ve cleared Naxx on atleast 2 characters.

Definitely no to expansions. I’ve been b!tching about WoW since TBC lol. But, I’m not exactly #nochanges. I really wouldn’t mind it if they were to expand PvP into a viable leveling play style with appropriate gear rewards. I’m not too into raids. But that being said, any modification is a slippery slope. I’m loving that they did this, and we’re lucky to have it.

I personally wouldn’t see a problem with adding content. Restricted to the world classic is in and without affecting anything that is already in the game. Such as new quests in the classic world for level 60s that do not give rewards of any type, new rare level 60 spawns that do the same, BoP items Blizzard can sell for real money that only have aesthetic functions, new instances in the classic world for level 60s to play in that do not grant rewards also.

The fun in these type of ideas would be to give end gamers new content to -play- without changing the core game.
