Since the classic era is somewhat niche and is kind of like a private server nowadays, why not extend the XP buff to classic era, and have some special events like double drops or more raid drops weekends every now and again? Summon some world bosses to classic era like they did during TBC prepatch?
Would be fun to breathe some extra life into the game.
Also a year long sub deal would be cool. I’d sub to that.
Those ideas have been floated before and I think they would be great.
Be super extra nice to have some GM events too in the form of random world boss spawns in the Barrens or the GM role playing Thrall and visiting random horde cities (as examples of what they can do).
Im pretty sure I got it from this forum but during the classic + discussions during classic someone put out an idea which went something like:
You received advance warning that you might want to be playing on a specific time window on a sunday afternoon. You log in. You see a message pop up in your chat window. The horde faction leaders have congregated in a camp in and around Crossroads in the Barrens. You go there and find out the various Centaur clans have settled their differences and united to take the Barrens away from every faction there and make it their own.
Now it would be super sweet if GMs could roleplay the faction leaders (or any would be NPC preexisting or fabricated for the event) but if thats too pricey or whatever then their NPC selves would do. Each faction leader has a quest or two which covers most level ranges with different objectives and the barrens are divided up so those players can go to their own level range area to do the quests which can reward the usual fare.
Then as the time window is nearing its end a centaur world boss spawns and anyone who taps it gets a quest and a credit for the kill which gives all involved a sweet piece of gear.
Then a week or two later the alliance get their version of the event.
That person received a fare amount of negative feedback but I thought it was a great example of how to keep it fun and engaging for classic players, give some company employees a little fun during their workday and do a little something that doesnt change the entire scope of the game or even a little bit of it.
I remember on EQ servers the GMs would host special events. Sometimes they were focused around calendar holidays like swarms of skeletons spawning during nighttime (think Kithicor forest but EVERYWHERE). Another popular event included “Fabled” versions of Named/Rare spawns that were tougher and dropped a Fabled version of their iconic loot. I still recall hunting after the Fabled Ghoul Assassin in Lower Guk for his dagger that procced a potent necromancer slow/DoT.
That’s nonsense and everyone knows it. There’s been plenty of changes made to Classic.
It’s impossible for an already launched game to be vaporware. I think you mean ‘abandonware’ and legal claims of abandonware hold no sway in the States.
they might aswell just put classic plus content in seasons and then add the content to era after wards. imo i dont see any reason to have seperate realms thats just confusing. dont take anything away from classic era just add more to it!!!
