Classic era is still worth it?

being honest here, is it still alive?

a bit information of mine: I played wotlk for a time, but since they announced cataclysm i gave up on playing it, and that was the only ‘‘classic’’ i played.

iam thinking about playing the vanila for fun, iam not interested in sod or either hardcore, but sadly it seens sod is more appealing, so, if i wanna play the real classic there still be some active serves? if yes, which one? i want to play in the alliance (i dont care about pvp or rp servers, can be any of them)

I feel i missed the opportunity since i didnt played when they release it, i only started played when wotlk came out, loved it, and my interest in the real classic grew up after that, but i see so much media about sod and hardcore, i have the feeling that not many people play the real vanilla, but i could be wrong idk, askin for tips

It is alive and since servers are clustered together sometimes it can feel more alive than it was before tbc. SW and org often have hundreds of people.

PvP - Whitemane Cluster - 6500 raiders
PvE - Mankrik Cluster - 2200 raiders

If you are looking for other style of experience, there are some players doing a community fresh on Deviate Delight and there is also a small community on Grobbulus (both are RP-PVP servers so they are not clustered)

I play on the Mankrik cluster and I really like it. Obviously it’s not exactly like Vanilla, but I think it’s a pretty reasonable approximation overall.

The active population feels pretty similar to what I remember from old Vanilla. It tends to ebb and flow somewhat based on what’s going on with the other versions.

You won’t see legions of streamer fanboys swarming around everywhere, but there’s players out in the world doing stuff, and the world is as populated as it was designed to be. Most everyone playing Era right now is just there because they love it or they’re wanting to try it out, so it’s a pretty chill vibe overall.

There is a lot of gold floating around out there, but that can actually be really good for a new player starting out, because you can sometimes make a killing selling low-level mats at inflated prices.

since i dont have any character in classic era i’iil have a bunch of stuff to do, and i’d like a active world for it, planning to level a human priest.

i played on grobbulus in wotlk, loved it, had three 80 characters

seens good, at the end of the day classic looks so original to be left in pieces, I’m not interested in sod at all, and I’m happy that there are people who prefer the original classic

I mean yes, but there are some problems with vanilla if you can heal you are expected to raid as a healer. As for the feel well you have some really geared people who are happy to give you what you need. If you do not have a char getting gold is easier given inflation meaning you can probably afford basic stuff.

When you go out of westlands the world is dead, people level by sitting in dungeon boost camps by mages. Finding groups for dungeons is a pain. If you don’t play at peak hours, good luck.
The most active world zone is elwyn forest, after that, you literally solo level till 60 or pay mages for boosting, which is the fav leveling method by era players.

Whitemane cluster has plenty of players on at all hours. Don’t believe me, go see for yourself. Also plenty of guilds and groups to join.

on the plus side… I don’t think GDKP is banned on ERA

I have played on whiteman almost a year before SoD. The population was twice bigger than it is currently. Finding groups for unpopular dungeons took hours if you didn’t play tank/heal or even impossible if you played at non-peak hours. To make groups, you have to wsp every person in your level bracket to hope to make one. 50% of pop were sitting in mages’ boost camps. Leveling was pretty much solo experience. It was laughable for a MMORPG game.
With the current population, it must be much worse than back then.
The screenshots that people show how crowded SW or Org are the proof how empty era is. Without layer, only around 20+ people including AH bots and afk players waiting for world buffs in the main capitals, seriously ?

Yes. There are plenty of guilds raiding. Plenty of people on 24/7. Obviously more during peak hours.

Low level dungeons, as mentioned, will probably be difficult to find a group for. But there are certainly levelers out there in the world you’ll run into. Just a few days ago I was leveling my warrior in Desolace and for the life of me I couldn’t catch the darn escort quest with the goblins and kodos because people kept beating me to it.

WSG is usually fairly active but if you’re playing during off hours you might have a longer queue (15+ mins). AB is not always active and AV is usually only active during AV weekend. If you want to rank all the way to 14 your options are to wait for AV weekend, find a strong WSG pre-mades, or farm sand in Silithus ideally with people helping you.

Go Whitemane for PvP and Mankrik for PvE. Whitemane is the highest pop cluster in the NA region.

That’s pretty similar to my experience. I play on Windseeker, which is on the Mankrik cluster.

You won’t see the huge crowds of people like in 2020, but that was never really the type of population the game was designed for anyway.

I don’t typically check or queue for BGs outside of the bonus weekend, but I see that they’re going sometimes. Whichever BG is the bonus is where you’ll find PvP’ers on any given weekend. I don’t think there’s much low-level BG’s going on.

I don’t have any problem finding groups when that’s what I want to do, and I usually play as DPS Arms (sometime I tank 5mans). I do Strat Live, UD, UBRS, and Dire Maul pretty frequently. I see a lot of Deadmines groups, Gnomer, and Scarlet Monastery regualarly. Sometimes people have a harder time finding groups for dungeons like RFK and RFD. There’s a lot of BRD and Scholo runs, but I usually don’t go for those.

One thing to keep in mind is that MMOs, including WoW, weren’t really designed with the intention that every player gets everything they want immediately. Sometimes it takes longer to get a group for an obscure dungeon. That was my experience in Vanilla as well, even on Bleeding Hollow which was a pretty big realm.

I’ve been working on my level 30is hunter, and I regularly see other players leveling, questing, and farming out in the world. One of my favorite places is the yeti cave outside of Southshore, and I rarely have the whole cave to myself. If there’s more than one other player in there, I’ll usually go somewhere else. Same goes with farming spots on my main: usually there are other players at the felcloth spots and the zombie fields in the Plaguelands.

There’s still boosting, but that’s something I’ve always just ignored, so I can’t really speak to that aspect.

I’ve been leveling a new alt on the Pagle cluster (alliance) and I see people out all the time and it feels like there are always people making deadmines groups.

Tbh it feels more like vanilla than classic did with 638283 layers.

On Mankrik cluster I havent seen 1 GDKP being done since the major ones that are being done are discord invite only. Nothing is ever public for GDKPs in LFG chat.

I’m sure though on the PvP cluster there are many because probably more gold buyers over there.

I’m pretty sure I still see those from time to time, although I tend to not pay much attention to them.

Agree. Whitemane always has people around.
