Yes Classic is dead.
Problem is a lot of players are playing but to spread out over the servers.
Option to get you all together would check out the Guild recruitment forums.
Than start asking Blizzard for free account exfers.

If you are a true die hard Classic RP player when your Character dies next time who ever you are can not rez. You are dead.
Than exfer as the new what ever you are on a new server.

Every one else just deal with it. You are playing the best expac.

Blizzard will offer Account exfers for free.
That’s another reason first to check the guild recruitment find out who is where.
Show Blizzard that this is what you want but buy grouping up on the forums first.
Give it time don’t expect it to happen over night.
Classic has just handed you the first quest that you players will be the only players to complete.
Once the quest is finished no other player will be able to receive the quest.
The quest is go to Guild Recruitment forums.
Check to see who is where. Make a guild than post looking for players.
After you make a guild you must travel by the click of your mouse or what ever you call it.
Look to see who is recruiting.
Post if you see a guild that interest you.
How many players can play on a balanced server.
