At this point it just makes sense to have 3 timelines and retail. Classic, TBC, WOTLK. Give people the chance to clone their toons to era as they progress. I dont want to play on a server that is going to release TBC. I want to be able to stay on Vanilla. I dont want to lose my toon to expansions being released. I dont want to lose population to expansion release by staying behind. I dont want to face lvl 70s when i choose to stay lvl 60. No amount of time is going to defuse the fact that we have all our classic toons stuck on CATA. Now its a ghost town with all our VANILLA ERA toons stuck on a expansion no one wants to play or ever wanted to play.

Already having the tech and system worked out, I can’t see why they wouldn’t do the clones. The money was spent to develop it, and reincorporating it would be profit for little investment to make it happen.
they are also going to get phone calls and forums posts for the next 15 years about it too.
Is there a true classic version ? I see people talking about it but all I see is Cataclysm classic

Yes. Its under WoW Classic Classic Era.

Select and instal Classic Era.
Then under this client you have several server options.
- Era servers (basically bone stock vanilla wow) existing servers are at Naxx phase.
- Classic Anniversary (classic 2 progression presently at phase1)
- Classic Hardcore = you die at all and its GG well played.
- Seasons of Discovery (Basically retail with vanilla graphics)
Classic Cata is also an option.
By select classic era you mean I install Wow classic cataclysm right ? As that’s the only classic option I see

Open Battlenet, at the top left you should see 3 different WoW icons.
One is just WoW, that is retail, another is Classic Cata and another is Classic Era.
Confirm if you see.

TOP left select WoW classic.
Now you will see bottom left the Cata, but there is a secret option, a drop down menu just above the install button.
Select World of Warcraft Classic instead of the default prompted Cataclysm Classic.
Install and after you’re done you can play using your retail account.
After you install then you can navigate server options. If you need more help just ask

we need vanilla-tbc-wrath on a fresh repeating cycle roughly every 3 years 1 year of each with the option to stay in or clone to a era server of each expansion. i would gladly spend 15$ a toon again

Play anniversary realms. If you play on the era realms, you’re going to be playing alone
For wrath make it 6 months because if it was fully unlocked from the start when it first came out, people would be in ICC on week 2.
6months is very short for the entirety of wrath 1 year for each expansion is fine
