Howdy, folks. I was wondering how viable druids are to play in classic. I intend on focusing on healing and supporting my team. I know there are better healers out there but I really like the nature theme and I know there aren’t a lot of druids out there.
What I wanted to ask is could anyone give me some perks or information about Druids as a whole? What makes me stand out in a dungeon or a raid if I choose druid? Tips would also be greatly appreciated!
They’re extremely fun to level and pvp with, I think i ganked probably 30 horde yesterday in Ashenvale. In groups you can stand out and surprise people if you stay active and don’t be lazy. If you are dps don’t hesitate to pop out of cat form to help CC, heal, off tank etc.
People are killing ragnaros in greens.
Relax about viability, especially as resto you will have a a much easier time looking for dg/raid spots. You wont be top heals in a raid but then again you dont have to.
I’m also leveling a druid and it’s been fun. I don’t have any late game experience with them but people say they are comparable to, if not better than, warriors for tanking 5 man content. I have had some good success in leveling dungeons as well. Just roll what you want, as people have pointed out, if you follow the pure optimal min/max path the content is laughably straightforward, so trying hard with less than perfect set ups will still be an option.
I’ve found tanking dungeons much easier with a druid than a warr tbh, at least at lower levels. I will say leveling to 10 was brutal though (bear form at 10) and 10-20 was very tedious spamming maul in bear for 10 levels (cat at 20). However, it is great for questing as you can heal yourself
First, I think Druid is a blast. While leveling you are very solo capable and can fit a role when grouping.
What makes you stand out in a raid? Innervate.
Many guides recommend going feral for leveling because you’ll still be able to heal five-man dungeons if you so choose (provided you keep some healer gear on hand), but I say play what you like.
In Vanilla, back before we knew anything, I leveled as Balance because I wanted to heal, I preferred ranged dps, and I figured, with a few exceptions, the gear for dps and healing would be the same while leveling.
Regardless, having the ability to prowl as a cat to get by mobs on the way to the objective is definitely a plus.
Druids live and die by their macros, especially when they’re using forms. For example, my bear/cat form macros will dismount me, change my form, and start auto-attacking the target with one button press. Pressing the macro button again will pop me out of form and stop auto-attacking (in case I need to heal or pop a potion).
My ranged attack macros will pop me out of my form and cast the spell in one button press.
As for professions, enchanting is great if you’re thinking of tanking because the best tanking enchant is BOP.
If you want to forgo animal forms for combat and stick to balance and healing, then tailoring sounds good. Just remember not to neglect your first aid! Bandages are great when you’re low on mana.
I’m having a bit of trouble deciding which profession to go with. I was thinking of maybe leatherworking or tailoring and enchanting. I really want to use my profession to help folks out
Enchanting is a must for tank druid to skill 265 to make smoking heart of the mountain. Pair that with mark of tyranny for some amazing armor bonuses in Dire bear form. After the trinket I would take ENG for the battle chicken. Its squawk is a legit buff along with ur mark, and leader of the pack.
Alch, or eng prob my dude. you can make ur pots and potions for your crew and become more valuable to your raid team. herb can be done in resto with little effort. Eng you will be able to throw some pretty good aoe dps out on the trash packs in raids. has alot of fun uses in pvp also. Can also get jumper cables since we dont have a non combat rez.
I’m really thinking of trying a druid instead of this warrior. I’d like to have a class I can tank dungeons with while leveling, but warrior leveling is brutally slow. Plus, I like to be useful at all times and heal at the end. Sounds like a match!
They’re okay but are outshined by other pure dps. Not to say you can’t or won’t do good dps, you can do some decent. The bres and buff is good, and you can heal the tank in a pinch for a hefty amount. But as for tanking, you’ll suffer. Can’t use items, can’t use shield block, ect. But druid doesn’t have as big of bias against it as it used to pre-wrath
