Classic concerns

So just like to point out and hope for blizzard to address it but right click to report auto dc/silence feature needs to be changed. With the current set up it’s easily exploited and with how group oriented Classic is it’ll be the #1 exploited mechanic in the game.
There are a lot of ways this is going to be used, one being group quests for those that don’t wish to wait as you can force groups to wipe, or have them all dc. You can also use it during world bosses by making the tank(s) dc. If it can be used cross faction then this would allow premade vs premades to mass report the opposing side to have an easier win.

It would be nice if it would be changed to prevent exploitation.

The moto of using 1.12, 1.12 for itemization, and class talents is generally the best as it’s the most balanced patch for those category but 1.12 isn’t the be all patch that people reminisce as ‘classic’ wow.
Everyone who talk about classic tends to remember the grind, and how hard everything was back then. If the moto changed to ‘what was hard, and grindy’ it would be more in line to what everyone remembers.
This means using an older version of AV to make it harder would be more in line towards what everyone remembers, and gives a more classic feel considering today players will just take the fast way to finish a BG/dungeon.

Last concern is raiding, if we use 16 debuff slots it makes encounters easier then what it was originally. If you make 16 debuffs apart of Naxx release (as it was during retail Classic) you would make this version of classic feel even more authentic.

The most reasonable compromise for RCR is this.

  1. Multiple reports on a player will temporarily squelch the player from that chat channel only.
  2. The reported player is put on the reporters ignore list.
  3. The reports will NOT trigger an automatic DC on the reported player.
  4. An automatic account silence will NOT be applied to the player BEFORE Game Master investigation.
  5. After Game Master investigation appropriate punishment is applied.

If they did it that way I wouldn’t have a concern but with the layoffs and massive paychecks I doubt they have the budget doe a GM to look over potentially hundreds or thousands of reports daily.
They could make a bot that reads the messages and only auto silences/DC a player for clear word choices but would have to be posted somewhere, but then again it’s the option of authentic say w/e you want or have some censoring.

I’d prefer to not have bots monitoring the public chat channels. There is obviously a profanity filter, but keep in mind cursing in public channels has been an offense since Vanilla. It was never allowed and the filter apparently isn’t an excuse.

I’m going to generalize that in 2019 more people are concerned about rule lawyering than they were back in 2004. The rise of social media, the loss of jobs from an insensitive tweet, outrage culture, reddit moderators and their superiority complexes, and etc. My experience back in Vanilla was that people tolerated a lot more than they do today. The normal discussion back then would probably be flagged as inappropriate today by those looking to get justification in their own personal beliefs.

The rules of the social game have changed it seems. Guess Blizzard can’t patch that one back to 1.12.

This feature is such a joke.

Blizzard employees can be so moronic sometimes. Most of the reporting features are abused for selfish reasons that used to report actual incidents. That’s human nature.

If the police created a text line you could report bad drivers and they auto sent tickets based on reports, it would be absurdly abused and most of the tickets would go out to people for revenge.

You driving the speed limit and I want to go over it? Reported bro.

You have a bumper sticker for a political stance I dont like? Reported.

The fact 80% of people who use report features are mentally stunted and use it for abuse. The other 20% of the reports are for instances so bad normal people feel the inclination to report them, and they are accurate and needed reports.

A normal person does not spend their day reporting any little thing they see and instead learn to filter and ignore things that arent a huge deal instead of spending their life filling out reports on stuff that doesnt matter.

Most of the reports are filled out by mentally and emotionally stunted individuals using it for their own selfish whims.
