Separate original Classic, remove all changes (chronoboon, polearm druids, cata guild ui, ect) and just add a Classic+ server list, and throw all your quality of life changes there. I’d like to eat my plain vanilla, I don’t like sprinkles. Thank you.
I think adding a bunch of different versions of “vanilla” is kinda how we got here in the first place.
I don’t really care if there’s 100 versions. I just want a vanilla version, with no changes.
so the original talent trees that era didn’t use?
dwarf mages and bucklers from beta?
what about the axe that shall not be named from LBRS? can they change that back?
Seriously there are so many things to scream “no changes” about and yet you only stand for the one that effects QoL for the raiders and makes them have to play the other faction to min-max or throw gold at the issue.
You’re being obtuse. You know exactly what “vanilla no changes” means. The final patch of vanilla before the pre-patch of bc. No, you didn’t GOTCHA anyone.
then why was there not uproar for them releasing things in waves, if everything was to be the final patch of vanilla.
It’s an mmo changes happen. The community evolved, the game does so to match. stop being so headstrong and asinine to think there are 50 servers worth of players who just want to sit in a bubble.
Sadly, that too is a choice.
Plenty of people clear raids and have fun without it.
False equivalence isn’t helpful here.
Sorry you missed it but these things were definitely discussed.
Tons of versions actually, beta versions, and various versions from launch til 1.12
So many game states you can pick from that are technically accurate representation of “Vanilla”
I honestly felt like 1.9 was near perfect.
However we could go back to launch where armorclass was directly reducing spell damage, and there were no diminishing returns at all in PVP
I don’t think that we should have another Era split but I agree with what the OP is getting at so I put a like on it.
Except there were people wanting things patch by patch. The community who asked for and finally got Classic 2019 provided feedback from the announcement, until its release, about things like this. This was definitely one of the things that people talked about.
Chronoboon was contested. The Era PVP changes were too. Almost everything has been.
My problem with changes to Era is that Era was stated to stay the same when the realms were split between Era and TBCC. So that’s how it should have stayed.
Seasons should be the place for changes. IMO Seasons should also be on their own client so that Era doesn’t get accidental changes due to them.
Right now we have (putting Era with HC as HC is mostly just toggles):
- Season of Discovery for the people who want the Vanilla “experience” with changes
- Cata Classic for the people who like progression Classic and who have been (based on how it has gone and how these players have stayed) ok with the changes it has had.
- Retail WoW and iterations for those who like what it is and roll with whatever changes the devs put out.
Era should be for the people who asked for Classic 2019 and that group of players didn’t like a lot of changes. So Era should fill that niche. After all, there are three other WoW choices for people who like changes.
Exactly how do you know that about the OP to where that can be claimed?
It seems as if you are the one who is getting angry about this one change back. Where were you asking for this before it got put in, by the way?
I think the poster in the other thread stated it well when they said that this was like giving a kid candy and then taking the candy away and the kid being upset. Well, young children are known to be selfish. That is part of their development. Even if you explained to a two year old that there was a recall on the candy and you’ll get them another one, they won’t understand. Adults should have gotten past that selfish phase and should be able to think beyond that. Your posts on this subject show the “kid who had candy taken way” attitude and not a lot else.
They can add changes and qol garbage to classic+.
so screw the people that dont want an endless gear treadmill but also dont want to have to farm 4 hours each week just to raid.
the same thing could be said about a child not wanting to share, and so far that’s all I’ve been seeing. “you dont like it go do this other thing” “you don’t like it, well too bad no changes”.
perhaps instead of calling people children because they don’t agree with you, you yourself can grow up
Sharing doesn’t mean accepting things that fundamentally change the game because it makes some people happy, while ignoring things like unintended consequences and precident.
I’ve done things like passed on gear, given away items, given gold to strangers, sat so that others could raid even though I took off the evening for it, etc. Not to mention the leadership things where I’ve been pretty selfless. This is real sharing.
I’m sorry for calling you a child but at least take ownership in that, in this case anyway, you want these changes because they are best for you - and that’s pretty much it.
Also, the OP can ask for whatever he wants on here, where exactly was your sharing attitude expressed in your replies to him?
well let me ask you this, if you say “hey i like this, it saves me time. and here’s why” and the same person keeps replying to everyone with the same opinion in a dismissive manor and telling them to go play something they clearly don’t want to play. Why should you show that person respect whenever they have none for you?
also how is telling people to go to something that doesn’t exist any form of respect?
I have done the same things, however I’m not going to come to the forums and act like I’m make or break for the community for doing them.
Season of discovery is literally classic+. They can keep all their retail-esque changes there. The end.
You don’t have to.
You choose to do so.
Choices we make should matter.
If you don’t like that option find another that exists because MoS is a seasonal thing not in or for Era.
I hope you can still find the fun in gaming.
If you do those things too that’s great, my point was they are real examples of sharing.
Going against my own beliefs that Era is better with no changes by saying that you and other players who want things easier should get your way by having something put back in the game that was never there before 9 days ago, and that next to nobody asked for until now, is not the same thing as sharing.
Changes have been made to Era that I thought were minor or that would have been better for me and I’ve retained the same views because things like precedent and unintended consequences are important to me.
If I say something selfish, which sure can happen, and someone calls me out on it I’ll take ownership in the next post for it, because self-reflection is also a good thing. Just like how I apologized for “calling you a child” even though I was more saying that you are exhibiting child-like behavior on this issue.
The OP said that he wants an unchanged server and there should be a changes one too, so that’s an example of sharing, your telling him no is the opposite. You saying that you don’t like the OP doesn’t mean that this isn’t the case.
Try taking ownership of your words for once.
i’ll apologize for being overly aggressive.
however the point that the OP resorts to name calling (obtuse: annoyingly insensitive; or slow to understand) for simply asking how many servers exactly is that going to take, because “no changes” could be at any point in vanilla, which itself had massive changes overs it’s 1.5 year life.
edit: to add to that OP logging an alt to complain about online bullying and harassment whenever he started it is the epitome of a victim complex
I think right now would be a brilliant time to give us a fresh Era server on it’s own client, and if they want to revert the changes, then let them revert them at that point and give us both a fresh, and an unchanged Era to play. People who want the buff and “some changes” have their servers, and we get a fresh and an untouched Era where things like this won’t happen again.
I didn’t call you obtuse, I said you’re being obtuse. There’s a difference
Idk - It was a different time back then too. All throughout the phases things changed from patch to patch.
I lived through both vanilla and era, and they weren’t the same.
If you want to say that vanilla is only that last patch, bro
