Classic, Classic Cataclysm, Retail?

Hi all. A subscription to World of Warcraft allows the player to play Classic, Classic Cataclysm, and Retail. I was wondering which of these selections is the best to play for the long haul ?
Thanks.

In my opinion a mix of classic and retail feels the best.

Classic still has the community. Retail has a fun endgame.

Once Cata hits Legion I think it’ll be a blast too. I haven’t found Cata endgame enjoyable.

Long haul: Starting on classic now and getting the phases done as it eventually goes into BC onwards will feel good. Having one in retail lets you see how the ā€˜main story develops’.

Have had a char on classic for well over a year are they resetting it back to 0 again?

No version of classic has ā€œa long haulā€ your content is limited and so is your gameplay.

I’d say retail is the only choice if you’re searching ā€œlong haulā€

Classic cata will soon become MoP and then they might just keep going, but the good news is we know what’s coming next so you can make a more well-informed decision than you can for probably any other game. Retail will keep going as well. Classic era will probably stay in classic era forever so if you like permanence that is the server for you!

Classic WoD will be jam packed with players i bet

Classic anniversary is going to take the same path as it did 5 years ago. I don’t know if they’ll keep forever servers or just ask people who remain to transfer to the classic servers already there.

Play Retail. Classic and cataclysm (soon to be mists of pandaria), are point in time shapshots with a ā€œsolvedā€ game mode.

They also miss out on a lot of convenience and features.

Not me, I’m not interested in having my character thrusted forward. I thought the whole point of picking a classic expansion was to play that expansion. I’d play WoD if they let us stay in WoD forever and keep getting that legendary ring to ilvl infinity but if they will just toss my guy into legion then I’m not interested. They should have kept BC servers, they should have kept Wrath servers, and they should keep Cata servers.

I’m fine with it in retail because progressing onwards is the whole point but in classic there’s just no reason for me to go back if I can’t have enough time there to do all the stuff I didn’t back when it was retail.

I am somewhat scared for when m+ enters the classic scene. Considering how much they recycle dungeons I wonder if it’ll just feel like two of the same thing at times.

Retail is going to have the endgame gear you will need , when The next new Xpac comes out. Classic looks like fun, but I am a dedicated retailer.

Different meta builds but yeah largely the same pathing and what not.

Yeah I was kind of perplexed when they had a forever 60 server but the TBC server I was on just went up to wotlk when i wanted to stay in TBC.

With the new classics only being 3 months each its just too fast per expac

I stick to retail since I wouldn’t want to replay the game.

Honestly whichever ones you want.

I can see why a person playing classic would worry about recycling content.

If Blizzard ever takes a stab at running a classic server like Jagex runs OSRS with player polled content updates, I’ll be there in a heartbeat.

Anniversary servers. Retail is boring.

Retail for the long haul 100%

Classic for the best leveling experience.
Retail for longevity and best end game experience.
Cata Classic for a lesser mix of the two.
