Classic Burning Crusade Character Creation

As per wowhead

Blizzard has sent a survey about Classic Burning Crusade character creation preferences to many players ( I was not one of them).

So I’ll give my own Opinion. One of the options was to start a brand new character from level 58 on a new Burning Crusade server and this is the one I like.

Which one would you pick?

The survey asked how players would prefer to approach a new character in “Classic” Burning Crusade, with the following options:

  • Continue playing my current Classic character on my existing server as it progresses to the Burning Crusade expansion, with the option to transfer to a Classic server that will never progress past level 60.

  • Start a brand new character from level 58 on a new Burning Crusade server.

  • Start a brand new character from Level 1 on a new Burning Crusade server.

  • Continue playing my current Classic character on my existing server that will never progress past level 60, with the option to transfer to a Burning Crusade server.

I’m not active in raiding guilds, so #1 would be the best option for me if I were to play classic BC. I see why some people might not like it, because it would split up guilds.

Another potential option could be that the first character on each server starts at level 58, while subsequent characters start at level 1.

Do it the way they did with Diablo 2 to LoD, convert classic character to expansion, from that point on the expansion character can only interact with other expansion only characters.

I haven’t played classic at all but would like to play BC, so I’d probably want to start from level 1. They’ll probably give multiple options though depending on if you have a classic character or not, I’d assume.

Umm… all of the above?

I think my first choice would be to start a brand new character at 1 on new Burning Crusade servers. (Starting on a new server at 58 hero-class style feels very very wrong to me.)

If there is some sort of transfer option, I think that the people who want to move to BC servers should be the ones to transfer. (Classic was here first, so classic players shouldn’t be the one to have to do something to keep playing Classic.)

The option to have my character progress to BC but also have a copy on a Classic Server.

It would be nice to get the option to start from 1, 58 or transfer.

I don’t think progressing classic servers should even be on the table, we’re looking to expand the classic experience, not piss people off.

if I had a lvl 60 toon I raided on in classic the 2 options I personaly would Ask for are
1- just start BC content on that toon as if the Expansion just dropped
2- Allow me to Copy that toon (once!) and place it on a BC server. allowing me to keep my 60 raiding toon… and also level on/ play BC.

just my thoughts.

Only reason I’m against transfers is because that entails turning server economies upside down pretty much right away. Fresh servers have that nice “grace” period where the AH is full of normal players instead of chinese gold farmers and AH goblins.

Well that would really only leave “start at 58” as a real option to keep people playing/bring people back.

I agree with you on not progressing classic servers for this, especially since BC had some flying only content and a lot of people who prefer classic over everything else wouldn’t stand for flying so areas like the Skettis daily’s wouldn’t be possible in that model.

I’d actually like to see a hybrid option between these two.
Classic Server never advances, but I can transfer my classic character to Burning Crusade. But if I don’t want to, I can make a Level 1 and go through as normal.

Basically a combo of these two as it makes the most sense.

I like the start at 58 but have it only for a single character as a way to promote tbc as you can jump right into tbc content (similar to how recent expansions market themselves to draw returning players) after that you start at level one for all other characters you make.

I honestly don’t like the idea of forcing classic players off their servers as the economies, guilds, communities, etc. are already established which it would feel wrong uprooting all of that and forcing people who only want to play classic to go play somewhere else if they still only want to play classic (the burden should fall on us who want tbc)

For classic characters who want to move into tbc it’s a irreversible decision and you can’t hit 61 and have a change of heart. (This is another reason to have a free 58 character to help players not feel so conflicted about the stay/go decisions)

Imo

I love the idea of bypassing vanilla. Even when it was current I always found classic wow to be boring. I didn’t really get into the game until I reached BC.

Pretty much. I didn’t see the survey, but I hope it was an ‘in order of preference’ type of thing, rather than a single choice.

I am in favor of CLONING (not transferring) a Classic server, one time only, to a new TBC server. You’d preserve all of the PvP titles, progression, gear, guilds, etc. You can’t do that if you have to start from scratch on a brand new TBC server as a level 1, although Blizzard should also open up brand new TBC servers to give players that option. Cloning a server would also preserve the longevity of existing Classic realms and their respective communities/economies. It would allow players to play on both Classic and TBC realms without being forced to re-roll.

Copy transfer my characters so I will not lose out on classic and still reexperience TBC.

Have my character progress to BC but also have a copy on a Classic Server, dont want to lv again from 1 no time for it.
