I’m new to playing Hunter but I rolled one in Classic. I’m traditionally a PvP only player as I generally don’t have the time to devote to sitting through 4 or 5 hour raids. I can play for 3 hours a night maybe but I just can’t see myself being dedicated to having to start at this exact time etc. Anyway, in Classic, unless I become HWL (not likely) it seems I just won’t have access to any good ranged weapons without raiding? What are your thoughts on this?
Well that the main reason people like to play Classic. People like the nostalgia of getting the BIS gears at end game raid by mashing their head to hard raid boss and have a satisfaction of achievement.
While the “casual” like yourself can never achieve these goals; you
cannot depend on the RNG god to give you a LFR titanforged or warforged drops like it is in retail WOW.
So the bottom line is if you don’t have time to raid in Classic you out of luck on the shiny purple.

Kind of what I thought. It seems the best I can use is a quest reward from EPL I think, unless someone has a better idea.
for PVE a Gun is the best because you use ENG carry a stack of Ingots and Powder in your bag that takes up only 2 bag slots. Then when your in raid or dungeon you can whip up ammo and not have to leave to buy it. That alone made ENG the default profession for most hunters in real vanilla.

CSX from UD Strath is really good, as is Bloodseeker when AV comes out. You will be outclassed by raid gear unfortunately when looking at raw damage and stats. The good news is, after raid content is on farm pugs usually get going so you’ll definitely get a shot at at MC/Ony gear once you hit 60. They’re already going strong on my server, and don’t require any set times. Just watch world chat/LFG and join up when you can.
