Phew, imagine never having played an rpg much if ever or an mmo ever in the 2000s, and then imagine you try this game called WoW out during its peak golden era known as Wrath. It’d be hard to ever have that same kind of wonderment and dopamine rush ever again from such a game in my view.
So that’s where I’m at. WoW essentially became my gateway drug into a more hardcore gaming hobby, especially with various rpg’s.
I personally don’t chase that old WoW rush anymore cause I know that isn’t happening. But I definitely do chase new rpg and gaming experiences as a hardcore gamer.
I’m at a point in my life where my joints hurt, I have arthritis in my hands, neuropathy in both my legs from the knee down and went from 459 pounds (2009) till 2020, (237 lost a whole human and a half) I gave up on what people say about the things I play when I bought my first game back in 1998. (chrono trigger) (was told by numerous friends and older family members it looks stupid to it’s not sports so it’s dumb)
And I never looked back, I like WoW for the gameplay and the relax I get from just sight seeing this beautifully crafted world not story, not dungeon, just quests and world.
And anything I DO say about the game is just that in that moment my extremely dumb opinion lol nothing more nothing less so don’t let it get to you to much, time is valuable and I for one would not want to spend it rolling in someone else’s salt…heh

Classic andies just prefer the outdated and time consuming system for whatever reason.
I wouldn’t blame it on age.
My reason. I was a player back in Vanilla.
I’m in my 50s now.
I don’t want any of that back and I am just fine with new things.
Remember, just because some rando streamer mentioned it , doesn’t mean that they speak for everyone who was actually around when Vanilla was Vanilla and not Classic Plus.

WoW as a whole is already dead and has been for years. Classic did nothing to ‘save’ it like you claim.

Also no chance WoW has 8 million players even if TWW is a step up in recent years.

I suppose you mean the slow and painful death back in TBC, when flying was invented? Or the pre-LK-death, when the scourge raided the AHs, banks and capitals? Or the LK-death, when hero classes came in the game? Or maybe the Cata-death, when the world changed? 
Honestly, I play since 2006 and each and every month since then somebody on the forums claims that “The game is dead”. With Youtube/Twitch any random streamer does the same “for clickz”. 
Because it gets views for that ad money?
Also retail over time has become a fairly terrible game.
