I don’t believe the same audience that plays Retail also plays Classic, I think both games are unique and different in what part of WoW they offer and both games cater to different types of MMO players.
From my understanding Classic has always been for those older and more seasoned in MMOs or those who had more time as it takes a time investment to level characters, get gear, find groups, get into guilds where as Retail from my experience has been for the more younger generation and those who maybe lack the time for an MMO so they have all of those things mentioned above automated with single button clicks.
I think this idea that we should turn Classic into Retail by introducing features like RDF/LFD/LFR/etc. in order to simplify the game further is going against the very reason why Classic exists in the first place.
Classic was supposed to be a version of WoW where it is a completely different experience from Retail’s lobby-type system and the “spirit of Classic” as the Devs call it is preserving those elements of an older MMO in a modern time where maybe this type of game would not really thrive.
We are lucky to be able to play something as niche as Classic and still retain hundreds of thousands of players and I think we should do our best to keep Classic the way it is and enjoy this slice of nostalgia without altering it to become something that it’s not.
the critical error you’ve made in your argument is that retail doesn’t use RFD. It uses an LFG system just like the one they are implementing in classic wrath.
This was maybe one of those things they wanted to strive for but the Community has since changed that and wanted a lot of things that weren’t around back then, they’ve been making continuous adjustments for a while so I find that we’re far past the point of your argument.
The retail mentality is to constantly ask for changes to the game. The point of Classic was to replay the old games. Everything you are saying is basically wrong.
After they hit max they do LFR, yet another RDF type system. LFG is a mix of what Classic has along with the ease of access that Retail provides which is what they are trying on Wrath beta right now, I think in general all of these systems RDF/LFD included don’t belong in this version of the game.
I’m not defending him what-so-ever, but I think he means that RDF is enabled in Retail. It might get used as frequently when you’re at max level since you can’t RDF Mythic/Mythic+dungeons, but it’s there.
