To be honest I’d rather they make a whole new alternative expansion going on an alternative timeline that isn’t the way towards TBC that still carries the spirit of Classic, this is what I meant about Classic+. However since there are no plans for this, so for now I’ll suggest what could be done with Classic Fresh
First the basic asked ones.
Faster XP (strongly disagree)
Barbershop: Okay maybe let players change the look of their characters by paying real money. It’s not a big kill in content and it’s not pay to win.
No world buffs in raids (strongly agree): This will definitely give incentive to players to try without world buffs.
Increase debuff limit on raid bosses (somewhat agree): I think increasing debuff slots encourages other plays and class specs.
Original Alterac Valley (strongly agree): I’m not even sure why Blizzard didn’t want this in the first place.
More difficult raid and dungeon encounters (strongly agree): More challenges is more fun
Increased rate of item drops (strongly disagree): Making items harder to drop makes the more exclusive and rare. Keeps the money economy strong as well.
Earn gold at faster rates (strongly disagree): Once again keeps money economy interesting
Summoning stones (strongly disagree): This is what is making TBC somewhat bad right now.
Now for extra suggestions
10. Make paladin Blessing of Protection actually drop threat on the target to help paladin tanks tank better.
11. Add new armor, weapons and shields that help paladins, shamans tank better or to help boost damage of Moonkins, Ret Paladins or other meme specs. They have to get the equipment of course but no changes to the talent trees this way.
12. Stoneclaw Totem and Dummies should actually transfer threat from taunted target to it’s user that way paladins/shamans have some kind of scuffed taunt to use.
13. Killing an enemy faction members outside of battlegrounds will get you double the honor you would gain killing them in a battleground and you can kill the same target 20 times before there is no honor gained. This will encourage wpvp.
14. Make mage Blizzard unable to slow targets in dungeons. That way they can’t solo dungeons or run people through them for gold. This also ruined classic AND TBC
15. Allow you to transfer characters to fresh servers ONLY after they reached the phase that transferable character is in AND when there’s at least a certain number of characters that level or close enough.
I think you’re confusing Threat and Taunt. Stoneclaw totem doesn’t have any type of taunt effect, it pulses for 240 threat. The tooltip is misleading indeed.
Did you mean to say that all threat dealt by the totem after 15sec should be transferred to the totem?
Or threat dealt by the totem should be equally replicated on the Shaman each second it pulsates?
I’m a shaman tank myself, so I’m quite familiar with the tanking side of things. If you have questions, let me know.
I think Blizzard as much as it trivializes content, would be stealing from mages fun if it was gimped or removed. I would argue it should have higher investment into a tree or something for how strong it is, but changing talent trees over that would take away from the spirit of the game. I think ultimately we need to address the main problem, which is boosting. If a 70 mage is in a party with a bunch of 20s, they shouldn’t be getting 200XP per mob, they should be getting 1XP. The best conditions for EXP gains needs to be with a level appropriate party.
RE: XP TBH I would be okay with 1.5x or 2x at most XP. Enough that it lessens some of the grindy parts, but not so high that it makes it trivially stupid to level like in retail. Maybe TBC XP?
While I think more difficult dungeon and raids would be fine, unless they break the warrior meta somehow making them harder would all but enforce it.
As far as mage blizzard slowing mobs I get what you are going for but it would also harm legit dungeon mechanics (people using kite strategies) I would prefer an AoE cap on the slowing effect or dimenishing returns so that you couldn’t pull the whole dungeon and slowly AoE them down.
Heaps of great points I agree with lots of them this point above needs to go so badly. I think mage boosting ruined the levelling aspect and brought so many bots into the game.
Add sanctuary effect to summoning stones and instance portals so players on pvp servers can form up for their dungeons and raids without being griefed forever.
Apply honorless target for 5 minutes to any player that lands from a flight path or revives after a death. Ankh, Soulstone, Brez and Rez will not apply the honorless target buff. Only reviving as a ghost.
Only allow pvp combat for targets that yield honor or experience. If they are a grey target there is no reward and you cannot engage.
These changes would help prevent the circumstances that made P2 a nightmare for alliance players.
That took a turn. So you already made the correct choice (for your choice of playstyle) and rolled PvE. PvP rules are fine. We know what we’re getting into when we roll on them. Not like death has any meaning in this game anyway. WoW is anti-risk/reward all reward.
Not allowing HoTs from different players to stack in Vanilla completely destroyed my desire to play Druids or Priest as healers in raids (& they suck at everything else in Vanilla version of game, with awful gear itemization outside of healing). Even in TBC (where HoTs from different players now properly stack), Resto Shamans constantly overwriting one another’s Earth Shield in raids is annoying as hell & made me respec back to Elemental.
Also, I think classes should be restricted to their own “optimal” armor type (cloth/leather/mail/plate) & gear properly itemized to support all their specs. Mail & Plate classes should start with mail/plate from the onset. It was so comically bad to watch almost every Paladin in Vanilla Classic running around in Priest healing cloth, not to mention Shaman/Druid healers/casters.
If the discussion about an altered version of classic bothers you then you should avoid these threads. Theres nothing wrong with theory crafting ideas that could help in a future release and thats all my post was. Also there is nothing wrong with having a different version with QoL updates, stop being so backwards. I’m not demanding any changes to the game right now so please contain your passive aggressive snark to yourself. Thanks.
Just nerf the xp hard for the players being boosted. There’s no need to change spells. Or are we going to disallow hunters soloing dungeons as well, remove pocket picking in dungeons and more?
