I’m on a Mac Mini running Monterrey, and last night all game sound ceased. All other applications still produce sound. I’ve checked all available system options and found nothing out of place. All sound is enabled in options, I moved all volume sliders to 100%, the output is set correctly to system default. I’ve restarted my computer. I’ve shut down my computer. I’ve reinstalled WoW and even the Blizzard launcher. What am I missing?
I have a Mac mini and have the same problem in retail. Have found anything to fix it. Tried everything you mention and the stuff Blizzard support has listed for sound issues.

Please try the steps that I mentioned in another thread here to see if that helps.
I see you mentioned having this sound issue in Classic instead of Shadowlands but I’m curious if those steps will work the same on the Classic version of the game.
Upgrading to 12.5.1 fixed the issue for me.
