I’m planning to spec into a 30/21 (bear/resto) hybrid build. I ran it back in Vanilla, and had a blast so can’t wait to try it again.
I’ve looked up quite a few guides online, and in the Feral side, all are the same. But on the Resto talents there is a bit of difference.

The final 7 points are the ones up for grabs though.
Any thoughts/suggestions on which are more helpful overall? It seems that maybe Nature’s Focus, and perhaps Insect Swarm could be more useful if I plan to pvp? Overall my focus will likely be just 5-man dungeons, though I’ll probably do some pvp as well later on just for fun.

Competitive feral specs will require you go into balance for the 10 percent damage and omen. Most raid guilds will have expect you have leader of the pack as a feral past probably phase two.
That being said PvP wise there is a feral resto build which is similar to heart of the wild

One point feline swiftness can be taken out and placed in blood frenzy once you get the PvP set.
Improved rejuv can be swapped for more regen and insect swarm for 2/2 enrage.
This build will require you to drink a lot when healing five man’s and I would not recommend it for raiding, better off going heart of the wild (with tranquil spirit) if healing and deep feral for feral dps
Restoration/boomkin with bear charge is probably the most ideal spec after phase one (more spellpower gear) PvP wise but it’s all a matter of preference.
That’s an interesting build. Though I’m not really very interested in being competitive feral, and definitely not cat. I’d like to be able tank, or heal, 5-mans only really. I don’t expect to be doing too much raiding, as I’m quite casual.
The addition of Improved Rejuv is another interesting thought.
Is Insect Swarm mostly useful only in PvP? It also seems to me that Nature’s Focus would be more PvP, and Tranquil Spirit would be better PvE.
You are correct that Insect Swarm will only be used for pvp and same with Nature’s Focus. Tranquil spirit will be better for PvE because reduced mana cost = more casts.
I would not suggest using imp rejuv because you are mostly going to be using healing touch, unless you are resto HoT spec which uses moonglow.
For 5 man dungeons and raids, tranquil spirit for sure.

That’s interesting, and good to know. My last real healing was in Legion (as Druid), which was just constant Rejuv stacking.
Yeah it’s very different, the most mana efficient spells will be rank 3 and rank 4 healing touch which are learned at low levels. The spell healing that you get from your gear scales with how long the cast times are of spells by a certain percentage, I forget what the exact numbers are. Talents that reduce cast times are not impacted by this as well.
