Classes Dracthyr Should Eventually Be Able To Use

Right now, Dacthyr can only be Evokers, but that’s really… Boring. Here’s my list of what classes Dracthyr should at least be able to use sometime and classes that DEFINITELY should not be available to them, ever, and classes somewhere in between (with reasons). Post your lists too!

Warrior: This is available to every race, even the upcoming Earthen. It wouldn’t make sense for Dracthyr not to be able to use this class.

Paladin: Umm… Maybe this class, but it doesn’t make much sense. Dracthyr don’t necessarily relate to the Light…

Hunter: See “Warrior”

Rogue: I don’t see Dracthyr blending in the shadows… Their scales are technically reflective, right? But still, every race can use this, so…

Priest: See “Paladin”

Shaman: Dracthyr technically already have Fire and Earth from the red and black dragonflights, and they can fly which kind of relates to Air, so I don’t see much of a problem with them discovering Water then being able to be a Shaman. Though there’s still the problem that they don’t really have ancestors…

Mage: The blue dragonflight. Dracthyr should definitely have this class sometime. They can already use magic and fire!

Warlock: Neltharion created them then he turned into Deathwing due to the Void or whatever… So maybe they could? I’m not sure, but maybe. It’s one of those Disc Void Elf Priest & Demo Lightforged Draenei Warlock moments.

Monk: I mean, it’s possible… But I don’t see how they can fight what with those wings. They weren’t around during MoP and I don’t see what connections they have to chi.

Druid: The green dragonflight, they should have this one for sure. I would love to see that their travel form looks like a Vorquin!

Demon Hunter: No, that’s only available to 2 types of elves, besides the transformation between Evoker to demon will be ugly

Death Knight: They were asleep when Arthas was around turning people to Death Knights, no way they can if Earthen can’t

Ion already said they’d be able to be warrior and mages. I would expect the normal classes unlocked already will probably be open.

I very much doubt paladin, druid, or DH. Ion (or someone) has already made the comment they weren’t ready to allow other paladin races, so I doubt they said that and follow with dracthyr paladins. Druid and DH are obvious no’s.

As for lore reasons, they’re irrelevant. The only thing preventing class restrictions in the game is the artwork necessary to make it work (outside of basically druid - and honestly I just think it’s because they don’t want to do the work for goblin, mechagnome, etc…) Ion said this when he talked about dracthyr being other classes after TWW launches. Lore was thrown out when lightforged locks and the like showed up.

Did you really write this whole wall of text without even looking at the post they made weeks ago about opening it up to new classes?

honestly i hope they dont ever become dks. getting gripped and knocked off the map doesnt sound like too much fun lol.

With the whole connection to Tyr, why wouldn’t they be able to become Paladins?

It wasn’t. Draenei warlocks are a consequence of the eredar from Argus joining them, and generally of the Legion being defeated and the few remaining demons domesticated and used as weapons. It’s not very different from what DHs do when they use demonic powers.

I for one am glad that WoW is taking a modern approach to adventurer identity where your species and cultural background doesn’t define and limit your choices. Adventurers are supposed to be exceptional and unique. That doesn’t mean the lore is irrelevant.

That is true. Shamans, druids and paladins require extra assets because of their totems, forms and mounts. Other than that, there are plenty of lore hooks to use for expanding those classes to more species. We have access to the Emerald Dream and Cenarius now, Vyranoth is a friendly primalist aspect with her own friendly primalist followers, and so on.

I would think that the classes that can be every (other) race currently will probably be given to Dracthyr.

Mage, Priest, Warrior.

Hunter seems a small stretch but druid, shaman, warlock, paladin, dk, dh all seem too unrealistic.

DK, DH and Evoker are not really classes (learned sets of skills) as much as they are mutations, transformations, and artificial creations. But there is no lore-specific reason not to allow the rest of the classes to them, as they are simply learnable, trainable skillsets.

Kultiran can already do this.

I mean rogues are just people that train to be sneaky.
Warriors are just really pissed off people.
Hunters are just marksmen that can tame pets.

You can make any class sound basic and simple.

Warlocks just ask demons to help them. Priests just pray.

Technically yes, but Titans don’t basically mean the Light. Plus they were made by Neltharion when he was kind of mad, so they might be void-y?

ehh kt has a cast time

Dragon druids or riot.

Exactly! Not getting Druids would be not getting Mages! If there’s no Druids then the Dracthyr are literally betraying the Green Dragonflight by not using thair magic. It would be like betraying the Blue Dragonflight by not being able to use Mages.

I can see them being no if Blizzard doesn’t want to deal with forms for them- but druids are honestly one of the more obvious yes options in terms of class.

Their healing for evokers is either green or bronze, and they’d have at least a minor connection to the dream thanks to the green flight.

The classes most associated with flights are likely yes.
Warriors, Mages, (Those two confirmed) Shaman, Druids, as well as rogues and hunters all make sense for them without any explanation.

They’ll get warlocks probably because everyone does, same with priest. Paladin, Demon Hunters, and DKs are the only ones that flat out wouldn’t make sense.

My no is strictly based on Blizz not doing the artwork to allow those classes. The devs have already said paladin isn’t ready to open due to not having completed the artwork necessary. If they’re taking this long on paladin, which doesn’t have a lot of unique spells / animations, there is no way they’ve done the work for dracthyr druids.

I don’t include lore in any of my discussions, because frankly Blizz has shown they will completely ignore it any time they choose.

Not saying I would be against Druid for Evoker but to me it doesn’t make sense…Dragon-Humanoid that shape shifts to cat or bear or moonkin? Quite weird if not funny to see. lol

Iirc the when other classes for drac leaked it’s because a screen cap of a warband with a Dracthyr druid was shown by accident.

I’d assume they’ll be included at some point or that wouldn’t make sense.

The dracthyr was wearing leather, which could mean several different classes. There was nothing in the picture that confirmed druid other than confirmation bias.

That’s fair-- interested in which leather class you think would have a more likely chance of being open to drac (especially given the emerald dream-themed armor it was wearing)?
