Classes and professions

I was to much of a baddies when I was 12 to realize I needed professions. Always broke, barely able to get mount and fix gear :rofl:

Looking towards the classic release. Is there certain professions classes need. For example do clothies have to take tailoring? Is blacksmithing a necessity for plate ?

I know getting pre raid bis is important to help make the raids smoother. But do you need to have those professions for that? Or can you take whichever and just buy the items you need of ah?

Very true. Thank you for your input sir.

You dont NEED to have the appropriate profression for your class. It just makes it easier to get the gear for your class.

you want to buy as little from the AH as possible if you want a mount when you hit 40.

Unless you are a paladin or warlock lol

What does that mean? Do locks and paladins require those ?

Paladins and warlocks get ā€œfreeā€ level 40 and 60 mounts.

Oh sorry, I thought you were talking about the professions

You can take blacksmithing and mining as a mage. You can take tailoring as a hunter. You xan do what ever you want to do with uour proffessions. Just most people go with a proffession that will help themselves first.

And no: you dont need the exact proffession for pre-raid bis depending on your class. Like warriors will have a mix-matched plate and leather gear for pre-raid bis

There’s benefits to every profession, whether its self-crafted BoP gear for Clothies, or selling raw mats for Miners.

Lies and deceit.

I think tailoring and engineering are the only professions that can make relevant endgame items that only they can use. Pretty much everything else can be bought off AH, or you can buy the mats and shout in trade chat to find a crafter to make it for you. Some people would rather make their own stuff, understandably, but really, it’s easier and cheaper to just buy the mats and find a crafter and give him a tip for making it.

So basically it’s just personal preference.

The Bloodvine set bonus requires 300 Tailoring to activate. Warlocks will want this and mages probably will too. The class specific robes that Warlocks/Priests/Mages are all BoP which means you have to have tailoring to make the robes (you could drop tailoring after making these). Edit you still will want to hold onto Tailoring for Phase 4 when ZG/Bloodvine come out. The only caster dps that wouldn’t want the full bloodvine set is a shadow priest.

Feral Druid tanks need Enchanting to create Smoking Heart of the Mountain which is a BiS trinket for them. Again you can drop Enchanting after making it if you really wanted to.
