LOL complicated? I think not. Not sure what a mimax is, but Arcane isn’t exactly rocket surgery. Managing 5 different CDs isn’t either. Arcane is the same as it was when it was buffed in Kara BC. It’s all about opener.
@OP if you want simple but fun, BM is good but there’s still keeping the 3 stacks up to max it, most don’t bother and that’s why they are bad at BM huntard. Most classes are stupid easy, really. I play all of them. Mages tend to be simple because their procs highlight so it’s simple to manage. I mean you can GSE addon every dps class and make them literally one button so…
I’m not sure where you’re coming from with this one. I have my BM Hunter as an alt, and it’s extremely straight forward. Honestly it’s the closest I’ve felt to a real rotation save for my DH here.
Someone doesn’t play arcane mage. You can not just spam arcane missiles.
Unless you do not care in the slightest about whether you do any dps.
Of mages, frost is the absolute easier. I find it mind numbing so I rarely touch the spec. Fire is pretty simple too but more complicated than frost. Certainly both are much much easier than arcane.

You can get away with Blasting spam most of the time however…
Better questions for your friend are:
- Do you prefer melee or ranged?
- Do you mind getting hit? Will you take a lot of hits, or heal the damage back?
- Do you like micromanaging pets or things not on your character (totems, etc.)?
- Do you like fantasy magic, or physical abilities?
Because the ability for someone to enjoy WoW is more in if they like/enjoy their class and race, not how easy is it. Unless your friend is 5yo and just can’t hit more buttons.

Go with BM hunter.
Despite what people are trying to say, it’s a stupid easy spec and it comes with the ever useful pet that makes soloing stuff much easier while also nullifying the drawback of typical range players by allowing them to move and use all their abilities at the same time.
Plus you get the perks of actually picking from a huge variety of pets which tends to be very appealing to new players.

It’s not all about opener. If you depend on your opener for a 7 minute fight and then just press what u want yolo ur gonna do 800 dps.
It’s not JUST managing cooldown. They require managing the cooldown AND making sure you have sufficient clearcastong stacks for your mini burn phases AND if you don’t well ur mini burn phase is gonna be crap, arcane also requires managing your positioning extremely well AND your mana is the most important thing
Please. Arcane is not easy to do good with. If you want to have decent dps you need to manage A LOT

Only people who don’t play arcane think it is simple. Anyone who has touched the spec since prepatch knows otherwise.
I love it. It’s my favourite of the mage specs in good part because it isn’t simple.

I could level BM hunters all day lol.
Though I am salty they obliterated the toughness of the pets and put a 16 day cast time on resurrect after they die from having their toughness obliterated

This is highly unlikely.
A new player has literal years of content to explore and absolutely no experience or context with any spec. They won’t be bored because there is so much for them to see and learn beyond just their class.
BM is a perfect spec for any new players. It has no actual weaknesses and plenty of strengths. You can’t even say it is boring because that is purely subjective and even objectively false because there are plenty of buttons and nuances to the spec that make it actually take attention with the upside that if you mess it up, you aren’t horribly screwed like several other specs are.
And if all else fails, you just run away and feign death.

You are exaggerating. Honestly. I played Arcane for the first time since it was a thing in BC kara days. it took me all of 4 pulls to wrap my head around it and after that I was pulling huge numbers on bosses. What new player is going to encounter a SEVEN minute boss fight? Clearly none. Ever. Arcane can pull pretty decent dps even with blast spam. It’s a great beginner class and spec, and to be quite honest, it’s not at all that complex. I dare you to play resto shaman. You’ll probably spend half an hour putting your bindings together before you even begin sucking at it. If you want to compare the two; it’s chalk and cheese.
Arcane is def easy when compared to rogue in terms of skillcapping. Fire Mage far exceeds the skillcap req over Arcane, there’s classes that suffer at the hands of micromanagement, and aff lock is the king of them. Arcane isn’t that high up on the scale, sorry.
There are simply classes, sure. There is also a simpler spec for Mage- Frost. Frost can be a high skillcap depending if PVP or not, but it takes more nuance to kill players as frost than it does arcane… Simple is Ret Pally, DK and Fury Warr, Range simple is Arcane Mage, Destro Lock and BM hunter.
We can leave the facerolling to the Night Fae Boomkins of this World (of Warcraft)
One little item that may be useful for Ret Pally to add is -
Build your Holy Power to four and not just three as a minimum. This will, depending on haste, reduce the down time during the fight.
Feral druid is literally one of the hardest melee specs in the game which is amusing since guardian is, hands down, the easiest tank spec by a huge margin.
Is Feral still hard? Seems to pool so slow. Monk is kinda easy imo, press a different button everytime
