Class Tuning Incoming – June 27

Cause 6% is not enough and 7% would be OP.

When will we get nerfs to Spriest Defensives in PVP?

Dispersion is soooo strong yet it is available every minute and 30 secs.
Desperate Prayer is available very frequently too.

You know you guys could just admit you dont know what to do with Shadow, it would be better than what ever this trash is…

when is assa rogue going to get some love? either boost survivability or damage. one or the other.

The massive nerfs to Yogg’Saron are not compensated for by the buffs to single target. You have effectively nerfed shadow in both ST and AOE, and we definitely were not over-performing in ST/raid. Please reconsider nerfing yogg by quite so much; it’s a capstone so I think it doing a significant amount of damage makes sense, especially considering it’s passive and we have no way to control when it spawns.

You may want to check Damage to Bosses chart (single target right?), and rethink your statement.

The changes to Shadow Priest appear to be too heavy handed looking at them in detail. Specifically the change to nerfing Void Spike damage from Idol of Yogg-Saron instead of nerfing the AoE multiplier only cause a much more significant nerf to single target depending on the encounter.

Looking at sim data here are the rough numbers for these changes:

  • Single Target: 0.5% loss
  • Sustained AoE: 4-6% loss
  • Mythic+ Overall: 2-4% loss

Nerfing all of the damage of Yogg-Saron hurts our single target a bit more than expected with the Blue Post mentioning offsetting the AoE nerfs with single target buffs. 0.5% is not drastic by any means, but it does feel like this is missing the mark from the goal stated in the post.

If there was any way to reduce the nerf on Yogg-Saron and instead adjust the AoE modifier on the spell that would make balancing feel a bit better. Specifically Yogg-Saron’s Void Spikes are mostly single target, but splash for 30% of AoE damage to other targets. If you are looking to nerf the AoE aspect keeping the spell damage modifier intact, and only nerfing the AoE modifier would go a long way to achieving the goals stated in the blue post.

Shadow is currently not the best single target spec, and significantly struggles on fights like Rashok. Taking even a small 0.5% nerf on single target feels overly punishing if your goal is just to hit AoE damage.

Based on the single target performance of the spec if the nerf to Yogg-Saron was reverted we would get a small buff to single target damage (2-3%). And then a corresponding change to the AoE modifier from 30% → 20% or something in that range should still accomplish the AoE nerf you were aiming for without hurting the talent in single target.
