I don’t get the thinking here. Mages were hit with several large damage nerfs during the PTR and after a week on live they had to make huge buffs to their main damage spells?
What was the thinking behind the nerfs if this is the result? Is this a case of darts at a wall? Like I mean I don’t care about PVP because it’s trash in this game but I would just like to know how the line of thinking went.
There was none. They are blindly throwing darts.
Amazing! I am so happy with these Hunter buffs! Finally I’ll be able to compete with other classes. These buffs are very well deserved and the only other thing I would like to see, is our pets getting some love with some overall HP and DMG boosts.

Hunters are SO bad this expansion. So very bad. BM has been pretty much non-viable for PvE content. They NEEDED the damage boost. They needed it badly.

+1, I understand wanting to nerf shadows single target, but at some point you really need to look at how it impacts the enjoyability of the game.
DE is an impactful conduit. It changes gameplay in a slight but feelable way. DE suffers from the fact that you made all its power the 35% void bolt buff and almost none of it the scaling proc. At the start of the expac it simmed as a 50 dps gain going from rank 1 to MAXIMUM, end of the expansion rank. It barely scales at all with ilvl, and all your continued nerfs to it without any adjustment to scaling have done is push it down low enough that it likely won’t be used at all, especially as other conduits continue to scale up.
There is something to be said for the nerf to DP as well. As a nuke, DP already hits fairly low (usually being around ~5k damage average cast). Your continued nerfs to it push it lower and lower, and it just doesn’t feel great playing the game when your nuke hits for such a low amount. Please keep these things in mind when picking which damage sources to tune down for balance.
You forgot to add that the next class tuning pass to come in another 5+ months.

Sorry but PvP can take a back seat to the real game. Hunters have been the bottom of the PvE charts for 8 months. BM and Surv NEEDED buffs, sorry if that ruins your PvP.
you obviously have some vendetta against survival, you literally will not shut up about it as if it even comes close to BM’s level of annoyance. it’s really not that strong, venthyr is the main issue with hunter rn, learn how to outplay it instead of constantly crying like it’s broken. it’s not. eu rat.

Loving the BM buffs, better than what aff warlocks got that’s for sure.
This, all three specs were at the bottom of M+ and the heroic raid meters. The only spec lower was fire mage, literally.
