Class trials in with the twinks

Class trials were at level 48 and now they’re at level 50. They were in the normal bracket and now they seem to be in the bracket with the players who have stopped their XP at level 50 or something. There are a massive amount of twinks in with the class trials. If somebody were new to the game and they tried PVP and got one shot over and over, there could be a better way of getting them to try the game and want to play.

I don’t think class trials are intended to be in instanced PvP in the first place…

How do you tell by looking at a character if they’re a class trial? Is there a buff or something?

People who didn’t buy shadowlands cannot level past 50. Some still have good gear earned in BfA. Others have done raiding since and gotten better gear. “Twink” means stopping xp, which means they couldn’t queue.

Right so what OP is pointing out is their circumventing this by the new level cap, given their not capping their XP. So it lets them twink out and then slam people in random PvP as it allows them to que. Seeing as its a trial and not them stopping their XP gains directly. Honestly I think twinks are stupid, given it just allows them to do a ton of cringe filled things. That makes for a demoralizing time when your not twinked out, and was destroyed for a reason. Straight up trials I guess should be unable to que for BG’s now, as its just reviving the twink issue blizzard addressed ages ago.

But are these class trials or not? How can you tell by looking at them? Aren’t class trials limited in the amount they can play to a few hours before becoming deactivated, which would mean they didn’t have enough time to gear up before being shut off?

The fact that OP isn’t aware that the 50 bracket contains everybody who didn’t buy shadowlands makes his post sound confused.

And if you think anyone who hasn’t bought the latest expansion should not be permitted to play the game, I think there might be a place for you in Blizzard Central. I’m sure you’ll fit into their longterm plan to remove all old content so everybody will be stuck in Lobbies of Chorecraft.

My my, you got some good legs there seeing how far you leaped to that conclusion, no I don’t think that they shouldn’t be permitted. I think that similar to other scenarios, its a good intention gone bad currently, and its going to have to be answered with something extreme. I’m pretty sure you don’t have a cap on how long you can play, just a limit on your level. Otherwise I would rather remove the monthly sub, or heck even reduce it.

There used to be a short play limit on class trials. People complained about this a lot. It was just a few hours.

So back to how does somebody recognize a class trial by looking at them? I suspect if level 50 bgs are full of class trials it is more likely to represent an exploit than routine play.

the separate queue is for all toons that have xp gains turned off for some reason. That reason could be that they went to the NPC to intentionally turn off xp, or they don’t have the most recent expansion and are at cap for the old one. With the change from class trials going from 48-50, they kind of got lumped into this category, since there are pretty heavy limits on what you can do on a trial before using a boost, and for good reason imo. I’m actually surprised that they are allowed in instanced PvP at all, since you can’t do old raids with them.

My understanding is that shutting off xp puts you into a different queue from capping at the previous expansion level, one which never pops. And I also recall that level 50’s can’t shut off xp anymore.

So back to my question how someone can recognize a trial over a player that has normally leveled. What ilvl gear does a level 50 trial have? If trials are able to queue for PvP with regular players in the 50 bracket, surely that was an oversight.

The only way to tell if a toon was a class trial or a fresh level 50 boost would be to check for that green quality armor set that is class locked. I’m not sure what ilvl it is now, but I want to say that it was 385 or 390 in BFA when they were level 120s

I’m sure someone would recognize immediately if a player had a matched set of class trial gear. But for a level 50 it would probably be ilvl 60, which wouldn’t be of much use in a bg.

I’m just trying to understand why the OP thinks level 50 bgs are full of class trials specifically. How does he identify a character as a class trial rather than a well geared holdover from BfA or someone who got Shadowlands gear and transferred the character to a BfA capped account.

is this like low level twinking? Which YouTube has videos on how to bypass the whole exp off, free to play, or vet account so as a low level twink I can queue in bg’s with non twink players. I’ve been gone for a while so wasn’t sure if this was similar.

Well, I’ve been gone for 11 months and just came back, so I guess not that long.

I have not heard this specific complaint before, which is why I think the OP may be confused and thinking players he sees are class trials when they aren’t.

Ok Thanks,

Oh, Nvm I know what that is. Been a while, but yeah after reading the info I remember now.

Or you know it’s just people with 8.3 mythic geared characters who never upgraded to SL.

That’s pretty much the Platonic Ideal of PvP, so they might as well get used to it.
