Would it be a true statement to say that the classes Warlock and Hunter are the most survivable classes?
I’ve played up to 120 the classes Paladin, Demon Hunter, Druid, and currently leveling a Death Knight at 112, and I have died in situations I never died with my warlock and hunter. Given that I’m a stickler for high survivability, I am currently of the mindset not to play the other classes anymore because although they are fun in terms of game mechanics, difficulty in leveling is frustrating to me.
I am especially puzzled why the Death Knight class has now been expanded to be available to all races, implying that it somehow is a class most people love. It really isn’t bad, but I don’t find it particularly powerful or highly survivable, at least not when compared to Warlock and Hunter. I’m at the point now of just giving up on the other classes.
So I’m making this post to get the opinions of other players, most likely more experienced than me, as to whether or not I am making a fair assessment on class survivability.
Your feedback would be much appreciated.
Warlocks are based on the races backstory and lore.
Death Knights, everyone can die and become one.
For DK’s atleast Unholy thats what I play. When I pull a pack of 20 plus mobs it hurts a lot, but the moment I get the first KB consider all 20 mobs dead. Just focus on the weaker mobs first because when DS procs from a kill it heals for a lot.

I leveled my DK as blood and never, ever did i come close to dying and i could mass pull stuff, slowly burn it down.
This.
I find Unholy DK, while can have issues, is almost like half a tank in how it feels. As soon as kill one mob, its easy from there. can get dicey, health can get low but you get a lot of defensives and ways to heal backup its sustain is really good. I can solo pretty much any world boss mob up to about 4 million health, though I can’t take on the 10million+ ones those are insane.
Even visions pose no match, I have a harder time with my slightly higher item level warlock than I do this DK. Visions are a cakewalk
Unholy is like the unnoticed top 5 solo classes (at least for DPS specs).

Druids are difficult to kill in PvE content. We can shift into bear form for extra armor, pop Barkskin, and talent into a self-heal called Renewal with a 90 second CD. We can also run Resto affinity, which gives us access to 4 core resto druid spells: Rejuv, Regrowth, Swiftmend, and Wild Growth.
If you’re dying while leveling a druid, it’s possible that you’re not making use of a druid’s full kit.
Wryn, my druid is Balance spec, and I did pick Resto affinity. Are you playing tank instead of Balance? Because as Balance, even all the healing spells eventually don’t help. I do well with single targets, but I begin to falter against mob groups of 3 or more.
I main resto and play balance as OS. You can still shift into your bear form while playing other specs, which is a pretty awesome feature of druids!
When you’re using your self heals, start with Rejuv, then Regrowth, and then hit yourself with Swiftmend. Druid healing stacks, so you want to use your biggest heal last.
Also, druids have some phenomenal CC. If you’re worried about a pack, hit Typhoon and/or Mass Entanglement, shift into cat form and put some space between yourself and the mobs, heal to full.
I also carry HP pots when I’m questing, because I like to pull enormous packs and sometimes need a little extra boost.
I am currently playing DK Unholy, and while I do survive well, I encounter a good number of times of almost dying (i.e., the screen glowing red). DK Blood does just as well. Overall, they’re good, but I feel they pale compared to warlock and hunter (especially warlock because I find it more survivable than Hunter currently in BFA).
how can you die as a DH? also warlocks can die due to the excesive nerf to Void walker, which has poor aggro and not having AoE tount anymore.
The thing is, when I pick Balance spec and switch to bear form, I have practically no good damaging skills unless I give up the healing spells from Resto affinity. But I didn’t want to give up the healing spells either. I admit, Druid has been the most complex class I’ve played.
While levelling you do, at cap you basically never die.
No no, you can play balance spec and still run resto affinity + use bear form.
It is rather confusing at first! Druids are quite complex, but I’d argue that their insanely good utility, survivability, and usefulness makes up for their learning curve.
Hmm… my voidwalker taunts AOE amazingly. I play an Affliction warlock, and any mob I hit, my voidwalker quickly taunts away from me. It also oftentimes taunts more nearby mobs than I want. In fact, the voidwalker takes a lot less damage somehow than my hunter’s pet. My warlock dies the least, and Hunter is a very close second (BM spec).

It depends on what aspect you are referring to. If you are talking about solo content then having a pet to tank is invaluable to survivability.
When it comes to other situations like raiding and PvP it does change a bit as pets become less important. Hunter survivability drops a bit in those situations as they only have one real defensive cooldown and it has a long refresh on it.
In PvE both lock and hunter are yes. In PvP lock still has good survivability, however hunter…hunters are screwed when our couple defenses are spent.
I understood what you said. What I meant was Balance spec with Resto affinity leaves me with only one bear form skill – Mangle – to fight with. Unless I switch to Guardian affinity, Mangle alone was totally inadequate. That’s why i was puzzled when you said you’re Balance with Resto affinity and would still switch to Bear form and fight well. Or am I still missing something?
Frost DK feels like god mode as long as you play with War Mode enabled. With the right azerite traits, you can seriously power up your dots/aoe.
Then PvP talents like Chill Streak give you huge bursts of dps when fighting more than 1 mob at a time. Transfusion for incredible survival as it’s all going.
All of that + the cds to block stun/anti-magic shell/etc, I’ve never played a dps spec with so much survivability and solid dps at once. Give frost DK a try if you haven’t!
But frost dies to most classes in pvp.
Not from my experience at all. Only occasional trouble with DH.
