I want these back. especially considering my demon hunter has like 2 real options for xmog that’s unique to the class. they created this really cool class and then did away with personalized tier sets for the classes. I’m sorry but as a dh I don’t want to look like a rogue/monk/druid. I want to look like a dh… they could have done so many cool demon hunter sets with their class fantasy, fel armor, bright colors, demonic stuff. but instead now we all look like the same thing. for a person who wants to play a class that’s fun but also look awesome doing it I find it hard to stay on my dh. atleast with other melee classes I have way more cosmetic options from the past. I really hope they bring back class sets. even as my hunter, I don’t want to look like a shaman wearing a long dress type gear. I want to look like a hunter.

I’m with you. I can kinda get the logic of raid-themed tiers, but at least make an option for every class, not just a set per armor type. Wasn’t freeing up artists to work on bigger picture portions of the game reasoning for this? With the laying off and realigning of teams, I think we can expect our tiers back in the future, especially with all of the backlash they’ve received about this since they first mentioned it way back when.
I believe they said they wanted to try something new with tier sets this expansion, hence the 1 set per armor type, but most likely it’s so they wouldn’t have to make 12 different armor sets, each with unique traits.
Most likely they will be going back to class tier next expansion, or possibly sooner with the Azerite rework.
BfA’s been about seeing how little work they can get away with in an expansion. Good news is they pushed it too far and now they know.

We were supposed to see more varied armor from this change. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case. We have less armor variety now.
Me? Nope, I just lucked out when I made this character. I bet someone had it before though and recently gave it up. Not sure though.
While we have less mog options on a class by class level. Azerite gear basically becomes a “build your own tier set” mechanic. Like a build-a-bear.
At least I can run raids on my hunter AND my main toon shaman to get zero loot because of RNG to get my xmogs.
Yup, the older Tier sets where much better overall. Everything just feels so homogenized now. Boooooring.
IMO, azerite traits are 100% better late game than tier. Some of the traits make WW for example feel like so smooth to play and I am having the most fun with this spec more than any prior expansion.
Their explanation for doing away with tier set never held water for me. It felt like a thinly-veiled attempt at cutting corners from the get-go, and the day I saw what Uldir sets looked like I came to the conclusion my feelings weren’t wrong. BoD’s sets are a big step-up for sure, but they still feel like an attempt at cutting corners, and don’t even get me started on the warfront sets, holy mother of god.
I miss tier sets. This expansion has been completely flavorless in terms of classes. It just feels so generic.
I forgot what exactly Ion had said but it was something along the lines of they wanted the raid gear to identity with the raid instead of each class set inspired by the raid.
To me is sounded like they did not have enough time or didn’t want to spend the time making all the different sets for each class and made up that excuse.
