Hi, I just want to gather some opinions on class skins and if you feel like it could have a negative impact on class identity. I would also like to hear your skin ideas.
It would be neat, but kind of confusing real quick for pvp imo. It’s not like league where every character has a distinct set of animations and look that you can recognize at first glance, even the particles are often very clear. In WoW I have to look at the tool tip most of the time to see what class they are. You could still get used to it eventually though. In pve, np at all. I’d love it.
Devs have never suggest class skin, so let it go, it is a player made idea that assumes all other ideas have been done.
Stop it.
Aren’t Dark Rangers as a class skin for Hunters a thing coming soon? I know I watched footage of a leak at some point. May have been Taliesin or Bellular, and it wasn’t one of their theory videoes, it was found due to some data mining.
No, but it would be the only way to make some classes for more races and keep it lore friendly and not ruin racial culture.
But then I can make my DK look a paladin, make my paladin look like a warrior and make my warrior look like DK.
Or I can make my priest look like warlock and make my mage look my priest.
I can also use toys on my druid bear/cat to avoid shapeshift forms.
With that, skins would be dope dope imho. Just my 2 cents.
No, its not real, it was entirely a player conjured idea.
Negatives: A few people get mad over something that doesn’t even pertain to them. Maybe some cringey rp scenarios.
Positives: People get to expand how their character is presented and a ton of people get to make different choices and look more unique.
Pretty much everything I’ve ever dreamed up has been made in fan artwork.
I don’t think they’d have a negative effect on classes. I think it opens up race / class combinations that don’t necessarily mesh well in current lore.
Like specifically Void Elves shouldn’t be able to be Paladins or Druids(sorta.)
But if you were to put a skin on them stating that they are Void Knight and all their abilities are shadow and void. Like they came from the Sin’dorei, and how did they get paladins? They captured a Naaru and siphoned its energy to use the light. The Void Elves could do the same thing with a Void creature to power their Void Knight abilities.
Void elf druids, or Druids of the Nightmare should have a skin placed on them to change all their green, flowery, and leaves to be dark shadow and nightmare themed with the dark black roots with red ascents. By drawing upon the Void that is present within the Rift of Aln and the Blighted Lands they are able to channel the nightmare nature energies into their spells and shape-shifting.
I think several combinations that currently exist should also get a spell skin change as well. Like the Tauren Paladins, their abilities shouldn’t be light, they should be a lot more fiery in nature as it’s Anshe the Sun that they get their abilities from. I think most paladins besides Draenei, Humans, and Dwarves should be using skins for the spells as they aren’t using the standard Light worship to evoke their powers.
I’ll also say some have brought up PVP as it could be confusing. But druids, mages, etc all would still be the same. It doesn’t cause confusion when a blood elf is killing alliance or a void elf is killing horde. I don’t see this as an issue.
If they are going to remove all uniqueness by letting every race be every class then class skins are a complete necessity and would be cool to just identity yourself separately. Why does every paladin need to have the holy light when we can use different themes to represent this.
This game is turning into a hot mess… the kind of mess you can only make after being in a steaming hot out house in the middle of summer, after drinking half a gallon of prune juice.
Oh the memories…
You can tell 1 class from another by the spell effects.
yes, you can use a lock mog on a priest, but mind flay and drain soul look different enough that you can tell them apart.
nobody will think it’s an arms warrior when they see the bright yellow wings on it’s back.
I’d like this tbh. Would add more replayability. Tbh outside of time resources and money the only problem is pvp. Which could be fixed by having their class crest by their name or above their avatar during pvp combat. Which will finally make class crests relevant in game, you’re welcome everyone
Been saying the same thing. It’s purely a fan concept, not something that a dev has said is on the backburner like housing, but people have latched onto the belief that it’s genuinely a strong possibility. I’m optimistic that not even Blizzard devs are so creatively bankrupt that they’ve run out of ideas for new classes and will start adding reskins of existing ones as new content.
I could see this. Only thing that doesn’t make sense is void paladins
I don’t really support class skins. They’re a waste of development time for RP.
I’d much rather the devs worked on making the game better.
Give me SPIKES.
Lots of spikes for my warrior.
It’s a cool idea but Blizzard have never implied this would be a thing. The fans did and now treat it like gospel truth.
I don’t know what this is. Could someone explain it a bit more?
That’s not exactly true. Yes there wasn’t a player skin leak, but there was a datamine for a quest chain for a new eye color for BElves.
I read this as, “I have no imagination and neither should you.”
Class skins would be awesome and should be implemented on a racial basis to start.
Right now, different shaman races have totems that reflect their race and that’s a cool start.
Right now druids have forms that reflect their race. Great.
But missing are the differences in paladin abilities. We all manipulate the light but in different forms and ways. So class skins could be applied here and it would help bridge the gap for when other races are able to paladin. Void Elves being among them.
Tinker and necromancer could also be covered in a class skin along with spell breaker and warden.
Class skins could be a great incentive to play the game and unlock them for each class.
