Class Sets on Dragon Form and Soar

A lot of my motivation for doing things in game is to collect transmogs. PLEASE, at the very least design the class sets to work on the dragon form somehow. I know I can see my mog out of dragon form, but thats not why Im interested in playing an evoker. I want to play a dragon, I should collect transmog and customize my dragon form. Id literally rather have my Dragonflight transmog sets be custom fit to the dragon model and have no human variation then the other way around.

Additionally remove the limitations on soar. Just like above, I like playing my dragon, in dragon form. I dont want to sit on a dragon, as a dragon with wings. Let us interact with the vigor system. Let us fully fly already
sitting on a dragon as a dragon looks downright silly.

These issues effect the role playing part of the role playing game. Hard to sit down and really feel like you are playing dragon that is out battling enemies, collecting gear and all that when nothing ever changes on your avatar. Maybe Im wrong here, but the visage form is supposed to just be a form you take sometimes, our dragon forms are our true selves. Why then does the gameplay work the opposite way, and make it feel like being a dragon is some shapeshift form like a druid?

100% agreed.

As much as I love Dracthyr and the evoker class, everything about them has felt rushed and/or lazy.

  • Only mogging belt and shoulders (which in itself is frustrating due to now having to mog away shoulders or find something that works with the dragon form AND visage). I can forgive them for not wanting to model every helm to ever exist to fit their unique head shape, but it does feel lazy that they couldn’t at least model the tier sets for them.

  • Soar being a ‘toy’ style ability with limited use instead of on par with “running wild” or “Flight form” that completely replaces then need for that type of mount (one racial, one class ability; you can consider it a dracthyr thing or an evoker thing, either would make sense). I’m just hoping that once dragonriding makes its way into the world for more than just the “[Continent] Cup” events that they will rework Soar and let Dracthyr have full dragonriding without a mount.

  • The Third spec being delayed until the 2nd patch; don’t get me wrong, i’m glad we got it since more options is always better, but the amount of balance issues it has caused could have been ironed out in Beta if they’d just let us test it then instead of hiding it until mid-expansion.

I was done with Wow after BfA. I came back to WoW for pretty much exclusively Dracthyr; I’m a huge nerd for dragons, and I loved the idea of playing as ‘small dragon man.’ But Blizzard is Monkey’s-Paw-ing the hell out of them for me. No tank spec. Can’t Mog (one of my favorite things to do in WoW was hunting down options to build cool transmogs). Has wings, but still needs a mount.

Tank spec may never be a thing (at least for evoker), but I can at least hope that mogging and flying are addressed at some point

One of WoW’s strengths, and imo one of the reasons its lasted as long as it has, is its robust collections systems. It feels very out of place for the newest class added to the game to be exempt from this system outside of belt and shoulders.

The class sets confuse me the most. They are already designing the sets for each class individually. Only dracthyr can be evokers. Why isnt the evoker gear designed to fit onto the dracthyr form?

I really don’t have much more to add to the topic, but these issues lead me to not want to main the class and I was hoping I could get a post to generate some traction. I’m a huge dragon fan and would love to just play this class full time but every time I login I feel less like a dragon and more like I activated one of the toys that transforms your character. Really bums me out.

I think the problem is that they don’t want to code special rules just for Dracthyr. I have no idea if it could be done, but it’s what they would have to do. Sadly they can’t just turn on mail across the board because any mail pieces would hide any of the barbershop pieces. We would go from one sucky situation where people can’t show off the armour they like, to another sucky situation where people couldn’t show off the armour they would like. :frowning:

Completely agree Soar is awful, though. There is zero reason this shouldn’t have just been a cosmetic mount skill. It has a cast time already. Soar as it is just irritates me to no end. :frowning:

I honestly don’t understand why the Sets don’t work in Dragon form? Worgens can swap between Human and Dog and keep/show their Xmogs. The Skellys look basically the same.

I think it is because of how closely they tied the barbershop armour with regular armour. You have to hide mail pieces in order to see it, so anyone who would want to show it off would end up with a completely naked Visage and pants on their Dracthyr they didn’t want because you can’t hide pants. Even if they made an exception for the Dracthyr that let them do so, you would still need to have a completely naked Visage if you wanted to show the barbershop armour in the Dracthyr form.

They honestly just need to completely separate the two, and just let you choose what you want for each form. Since this company thought it was a good idea to give us a dragon race that can’t fly, however, I don’t really have my hopes up. :frowning:

I find it’s just laziness.

They telling us that we can only mog shoulders and belts when they could easily create parameters as to how the mail will fit on them. There’s no excuse that evokers have only 15-20% of their armor show in dragon form. It’s the only thing that makes the class boring because as it stands when I get a new item I don’t really feel excited because I won’t be able to see how it looks anyways.

Just imagine how that item would look on a Shaman or Hunter. Then imagine that Shaman or Hunter being an ugly lizard person with useless wings that don’t fly so well. And then lastly imagine that boots, capes, helmets, and legs never existed. Boom! You’re looking hella fresh.

The items stretch or morph on tauren and troll feet, worgen and tauren and vulpera heads.

Nah there’s no excuse as to why they can’t do similar things. Set parameters and make it work just fine. Played tauren most my time in wow. Boots and helmets get stretched or parts cut out. It works.
Dragon wings are just tauren horns.

I feel like the options are either give us a way to full mog on dragon form, or let us pick the visage race of our choice so at least we can enjoy that part of the class. Being stuck either wearing barber shop armor on my dragon or playing as a yucky blood elf really turns me off playing evoker at all, and I hate that cause I really enjoy the playstyle. When I log into my evoker it feels like I’m playing someone elses character and not my own, if that makes sense.

If the dragon form is supposed to be more like a moonkin for druid, at least let me pick my race like druid. If its supposed to be more like worgen and be something you are always/most of the time shifted to, let me show armor like worgen.

You can already have separate mogs for separate specializations, how hard would it really be to implement separate mogs for worgen/human dracthyr/visage forms at this point? Imagine a werewolf who could turn back into their farmhand clothes from armor, would be just as cool as the visage wearing civilian clothes and armor as a dragon.

And yes, Soar is so gimped it’s insane. I can only ask the same question so many others have before : Why the hell would a DRAGON with WINGS sit ON a bigger dragon to fly, WHEN THEY CAN FLY???

If we compare the hero class of Evokers to previous hero classes like Death Knight and Demon Hunter, they really feel like the red-headed stepchildren of the archetype, remember how underwhelmingly weak their dps spec was at launch?

Yeh, if they could separate the two forms and give us the ability to hide pants then I would be all for it. My only real fear is that Blizzard will cave and sorta do a half job by just enabling mail armour. That would suck because then I would end up losing my preferred look. :frowning:

Ideally a solution that benefits both the people who want the barbershop armour and the people who want their own choices would be idea.

While I’m not really bothered by the lack of mogs. Consider me one of those who believe armor on dragons it’s stupid. (I only use a minimum ammount on my dragon for some fashion sense rather than protection)

However the Soar detail and the lack of my favorite role are the 2 things keeping me from fully enjoying my evoker. Seriously I don’t understand why can’t we just DR or atleast normal flight allready. Specially when you remember that a normal Flight skill for evokers exist on the game files since DF launch (it was datamined on wowhead) but it was discarded on launch in favor of the very limited Soar. The other day i did Throne of Winds out of boredom, and after you kill the last boss and are able to fly around freely. Your evokers uses all the animations for flying perfectly. I was like wtf THE ANIMATIONS ARE ALL RIGHT THERE BLIZZARD. i spended like 20 minutes just flying around the area before finally leaving. It was beautiful

And regarding a tank spec. I don’t doubt that some day. Eventually, they might get class expanded to be other classes like Warr or maybe even monk. But i would have liked nothing more to be a dragon tank on the “dragon expansion”. Not the next one
