The most messy part of shadow currently is AoE because of Shadow Crash and they aren’t changing that being the sole means of AoE. It looks like it might actually be worse.
I was using Sepsis, Dreadblades and MFD. All gone.
Now in Midnight Ghostly Strike and Cold Blood are all gone.
So yeah Rogues may have less active buttons but the problem is their complexity remains still for all three specs but through passives.
I do not think this is the best way to tackle complexity to help new and returning players IMO. When passive talents are so dominant that they are better than active talents that is a problem.
Basically removing active talents which are often not mandatory given how strong passive talents are in WoW means that the main complaint new and returning players have with WoW accessibility are not being addressed.
All that is happening is that us veteran players are being shut out from enjoying the game we like to play in our way.

You might be right. Problem with Legion was it had a lot of weird things going on. For one, BDK was unkillable. The classes weren’t balanced whatsoever. R Druid could not heal Grievous weeks, there was just no way, you had to have an elite team otherwise it was a HARD skip week. The legendaries were imbalanced.
Between the affixes and being 1 shot because you had zero defensives, yeah, it was a little much.
But that’s a tuning problem, a dungeon tuning problem. If they can’t lower the numbers then they should just find a new job imo.
For example, just make the caster nukes not hit hard, problem solved. Then you can have multiple of them in a pack. It’s not rocket science.
I’ll bet the new tentacle isn’t even fixed to apply DoTs properly. It’ll be a new ability that somehow has the same issue Shadow Crash currently has.
But that is the issue…do we trust the devs to tune properly? Look at the last minute changes in TWW beta with tanks for example?
I rather see players have more agency to off set these issues through talent trees and different builds than rely on tuning IMVHO.

The amount of times Shadow Crash hasn’t applied DoTs to targets because they were behind a tiny change in elevation in the ground…
I’m gonna adapt to the changes like I have for the past 25 years of playing the game. Period.
I’m waiting for havoc DH to get the survival hunter treatment. “You have a ranged spec why aren’t you using it?”
If we were to look at current DPS Balance (for raiding) it’s pretty good compared to other expansions. So there is some trust there at least.
They should rework affliction too. That spec has not felt like a dot spec in years
Arcane is presently extremely simple. It is essentially a 4 button spec. You do the same rotation in single target and AOE. It does not need to be further simplified, at all.
Assuming mfi is mind flay insanity its not really gone, just reworked slightly.
And void bolt has been swapped with void volley which doesnt seem that big of a difference to me.
Void torrent will be sadly missed. That was one of the best part of shadow.
If I went in expecting nothing to have changed I would have been sorely disappointed.
All I know, its gonna be WoW.
MFI is gone because it is not functionally different from mind flay, it is just buffing the baseline filler spell (Which is in my opinion awful. I hate having strong filler spells.)
Void Volley has a 15 second cooldown, as opposed to the roughly 5 second cd of Void Bolt.
The whole rotational cadence of voidform is gone.
Hardly anyone enjoyed that though
In PvP not so much.
Having it be more proactive survivability in barriers is nice.
I could care less about slow, but I am very sad at Blast Wave being removed and hope at some point the re-add it (it’s still alpha and alot of time to make changes).
I am however happy to have Shifting Power gone.
They kind of just assassinated devastation evokers didn’t they.
Shattering star is now passive, so no free essence burst button, and engulf was removed from flameshapers. The two most fun buttons to press are now gone.
Spam disintegrate and living flame i guess.
Of all the specs that needed pruning devoker was not one of them.
