Class populations?

Is there any reliable WoW census data for SOD? I can’t any online. I’m curious what the most played & least played classes are.

As far as I know, there is IronForge.Pro which is based on logs that have been uploaded to warcraftlogs, and there’s whatever census data addon you’d like to use or create to share data with others or collect it on your own.

Of course, what you mean by reliable is worth defining precisely, especially if you’re going to do something about it.

Warcraft tavern usually has some.

I’m shocked to see lock being bottom 3 for crusader strike… I thought we’d be more popular.

Speaking of Crusader Strike, I’m surprised how popular druids are, and how priests aren’t more popular. Though, this is phase 1 where everyone’s raiding on lots of alts. I guess we’ll see raid population in later phases. Not super convinced it’s that accurate a number to go by, but it’s something!

You can use warcraft logs total number of parses to get an idea of the class distribution within BFD only. This obviously does not include data from other activities such as PVP.

https://sod.warcraftlogs.com/zone/statistics/2007#boss=2694

scroll down to the table, sort by ‘parses’ collumn.
Note that it only shows the past 2 weeks, but from this data we can see:

Class Spec Parses Percentage
Hunter Marksmanship 179,744 13.58%
Warrior DPS 155,841 11.77%
Rogue DPS 144,898 10.95%
Priest Healer 138,570 10.47%
Druid Feral 125,940 9.52%
Warlock DPS 86,088 6.50%
Mage Fire 80,987 6.12%
Paladin DPS 66,117 5.00%
Druid Healer 43,141 3.26%
Warrior Tank 40,331 3.05%
Druid Balance 36,730 2.78%
Shaman Tank 36,574 2.76%
Mage Arcane 33,810 2.55%
Priest DPS 26,999 2.04%
Paladin Tank 26,438 2.00%
Mage Healer 24,371 1.84%
Warlock Tank 21,793 1.65%
Shaman Enhancement 13,650 1.03%

Shaman Elemental 6,824 0.52%
Rogue Tank 6,278 0.47%
Druid Tank 3,684 0.28%
Hunter Melee 2,568 0.19%
Mage Frost 1,085 0.08%

edited to include percentages.

sad to see druid tanks at 0.28% representation

Druids are popular because Warriors are popular.

Lol I’m a melee hunter, basically.

Been weaving in Flanking Strike whenever I can, and making use of Wild Strikes if I have it.

P2 has a lot more melee hunter buffs and runes- we’ll be a lot more viable in the future.

I’m doing my part!

As per the raid log stats linked below, in BFD, priests are by far the most popular healer (by triple the 2nd most popular) and overall priests make up 12.4% of the raiding population.

I don’t see any logs for you.
I guess no one in your raid is uploading logs?

It’s been a while, I haven’t done BFD since Greench was out and as a result, so my logs got wiped lol, last time I did one on this guy was early to mid Jan, and I still had my Greench.

They didn’t keep any of those logs lol

I’ve been playing two other chars, did BFD on them, a priest and a warr, basically waiting for P2 at this point.

Rn I think I’m all BFD-d out.

True, I lost a bunch of great performances thanks to the greenchening.

Why?

:woman_shrugging:

It’s validation that blizzard have, once again, somehow managed to completely drop the ball on bear tank design. They are very weak at the moment, with all of the rage problems that warriors have, but none of the answers.
Based on the data mined runes, this isn’t going to change much in the next phase either.

Ohh look shaman is the least played class in the game… hmm wonder why? (Cause they suck and their runes are LAME)

The shaman/paladin numbers are skewed as they are horde/ally exclusive.
Shaman tank is very strong right now, but yes dps/heal specs are pretty weak.

As of next phase (and definitely at 60) they are mandatory to have, their utility is incredible and always has been.
I still have PTSD from trying to recruit a 5th resto shaman for my naxx raids, painful.
