Class Popularity

What does everyone think the most popular classes will be? Is it going to be paladins, hunters, and druids like in retail? Or are we going to see masses of rogues and mages like in vanilla wow.

Warriors followed by mages then rogues

Possibly hunters or locks at first that people level in order to feed their warrior main

Sure as hell not in Vanilla it wasn’t.

Druids have always been and always will be the least represented in Pre-TBC.

Definitely warriors, seems to trend that way.

Paladins are alliance only so you would think that it would have a lower number that classes playable by both sides.

Druids? Hehe nope.

It will be warriors or mages

Priest is actually quite popular this time around.

I think I saw a survey of priests being slightly ahead of mages.

warrior, mage, rogue

so far here is the breakdown I’m seeing:

class %
druid 11%
rogue 13%
warlock 9%
priest 15%
shaman 8%
hunter 9%
warrior 16%
mage 11%
paladin 8%

This was taken from polls on Discord and Reddit.

My guess is that Warrior will be the most played. All of the DPS classes will be high in popularity.

DPS has always been a disproportionately desired role compared to healing and tanking.

I’m wondering how bad the lack of tanks and healers will be without dual spec. I’m also wondering if it will impact raids that much when you need 30 dps.

I kinda’ like the identity you get from it being actually costly to swap specs

At launch Warrior will be the most common class you see, but most of them will quit before level 30 because solo leveling a warrior in classic is rough compared to other classes. Mage and Rogue will be the most common classes that actually make it all the way to end game from launch.

In short at launch:
1: Warrior
2: Mage
3: Rogue
4: Priest
5: Hunter
6: Warlock
7: Druid
8: Shaman
9: Paladin

A year after launch
1: Mage
2: Rogue
3: Priest
4: Warrior
5: Hunter
6: Warlock
7: Druid
8: Shaman
9: Paladin

This is why people rolled alts for PvP if they were raiding with their main.

Raids tend to get by alright, especially on tanks since there are so few spots for it outside of some very specific fights.

It’s mostly for dungeons, but even before we knew about the stigma against healers as non-healing specs we still could end up with significant wait times to find people.

As a healer my plan is to just have a farming alt so I don’t have to worry about my lack of damage output in the world.

Especially when maxed out the respec cost, and account for repairs while tanking.

If the stress test is any indicator: priests EVERYWHERE.

Must be that blasted shadowform. And dwarves.
