Class Popularity

What’s going to be popular, what’s not?

Doesn’t really matter to me, I’m gonna play a shaman and rogue. Not concerned what other people think.

Well warrior is the only REAL class and everything… But I might just end up joining the hunter bandwagon. Time will tell.

Warrior has 2 optimal specs and is a beast in PvP, it always represents the highest on private servers and I have no reason to believe that it will change in Classic.

Rogue is always good. Mage is level 60 ezmode. Priest is fantastic. Everything else takes a lot more effort than the big 4, and will see less overall play I think.

Warrior, Rogue, Mage, Priest will probably be tops. I think Hunter and Warlock will come in right below that. Then you will have the hybrids.

Hunter > mage > warrior > rogue.

I think hunter has been one of the most popular classes throughout all expansions afaik.

Just depends. I think you will see lots of people playing things they didn’t before.

Yeah I thought I remembered warlock being unpopular. You’re probably right that it’ll probably be more popular due to player information available.

I’m guessing warrior rogue and mage because they have high dps potential and are universally useful.

Hunters will be very popular because they are easy to level and the old pet mechanics will attract a lot of people. Warlocks for similar reasons.

I predict the hybrid classes (paladin shaman druid) will be less popular because of the leveling difficulty, and their lack of clear strength outside of healing and utility. (People who want to heal will probably play priests)

I think every class will have its showing, but if I had to guess I think Druid will be the least popular.

did you forget about the hunter dead zone in classic?..lol.

Part of that was because they were pretty bad early on if I’m remembering the patches right. I also seem to recall Paladin being popular because of the whole RTS thing which I don’t think we will see happen this go around.

Every class is well represented in vanilla, the distribution is typically rather even, but probably Warriors/Rogues will be the most common class with Druids at the bottom.

Yeah, I think warlocks will be more popular this time around but still won’t be in the top 4. Classic warlock is my favorite class of all time. But I think the concept of warlock mechanics is a bit too foreign for people. Using your own life as a resource feels instinctively counterintuitive. There are so many ways to play warlock it’s dizzying. You can read 5 guides on warlock and get 5 different answers. So even though there is a lot more information some of it can be contradictory. Some guides are so terrible I question whether they’ve actually played before.

Game is completely unbalanced lol but that was the fun.

Ima roll a Hunter and a druid again, but for the first time I will play a Holy paladin and be a healer…not sure how that one is gonna go but…hey the worst that can happen is a wipe right? ;D

That’s the spirit!

Warrior will be #1 as they are top tier tanks, dps, and in PvP. Paladin and Shaman will both be highly represented. They both show up around 8-9% in the polls I’ve seen which is very high considering they are faction locked.

The biggest climber will be Warlock. They were pretty underplayed in Vanilla but thanks to the private server community people have a better understanding of the class now. They’re ridiculously powerful in PvP and strong dps once they get some hit.

Druid will be the most underplayed class. Druids strength is not in their raw damage/healing output and that seems to be all people care about. The power of shape shifting, brez, and innervate is criminally undervalued.

I expect Hunters to fall the furthest. They were a top 3 most played class in Vanilla. Nowadays people people love to bring up their poorly scaling dps. My money is on Hunter being above only Druid.

And yet as a hunter I can kill all of the “big 4” with relative ease.

DeathKnights will be best level 60. Don’t need healers, don’t need dps, don’t need tanks, just need deathknight groups!!!

Hunters are without a doubt one of the top PvP classes. The problem is that WoW is a somewhat PvE-centric game. Hunters don’t have the dps of a Rogue or Mage so they tend to get overlooked.
