This should be a thing!

Definite need

I agree would be super cool.

No there isn’t. All the info you need is already out there. Wowhead even has an entire Classic section.

Damn Debby downer, would just be nice to have them not for theory crafting

Don’t see the point in discussing classes that can’t be changed. Plus every aspect of classic classes can be researched quite easily on youtube and many websites.

Yes and no. Classic is significantly more complex in terms of aspects like builds and spell selection than retail - and many of those complexities aren’t fully appreciated by the various guides out there.

All the original guides are there. It’s not incredibly complex, there were many ā€œstandardā€ builds out there. Spell selection is easy too, may times you have to down rank especially as a healer to conserve mana.

And many of those guides are, well, wrong.

Consider downranking. This is mainly a level 60 concept because it requires a pile of spellpower to work. More importantly, it requires you make the calculations based on your specific spellpower - and your specific spells. While this doesn’t require advanced degrees, it requires you actually do the math - and you do the math for each of your spells.

For example, you generally downrank Greater Heal 1 - 2 ranks, while you don’t downrank Prayer of Healing at all.

I’ve yet to see any guide mention how the process of healing is very different from retail - no mentions of cancel-casting or how the always-be-healing model is a terrible idea.

The ā€˜standard’ builds are also often wrong, missing critical talents in favor of relatively mediocre ones that sound good but aren’t actually very powerful.

You have to remember that in Classic there was a lot of uncertainty about mechanics for a long time, so many ā€˜good’ players were actually playing in a sub-optimal way. Looking over a guide from that era without much in the way of experience from that era so you can write a guide for Classic isn’t a recipe for good information.

regardless if all the info is readily available on other sites, the main focus of classic has been community. a lot of players would rather come here and discuss their class with other players, instead of reading through a how-to guide.

i’m not sure if blizzard will create class forums for classic, but it would be a nice addition.
