Class favoritism

So somethings that’s kind of confusing to me is why is there such class favoritism/elitism? For example, I keep hearing that if you aren’t playing a mage/rogue/warrior then youll find it more difficult to be invited to a raid. But on the other hand, everyone is screaming classic is too easy and people are clearing MC with 20-30 man groups and half of them arent even 60 yet.

My guild is borderline forcing me to go resto if I want to raid but I really like feral Dps.

So which is it? Is the end game only piss easy if you take the best specs or is there just an aura of class elitism that you should favoritize the better specs because “the raid is hard”.

You should not allow anyone to force you into anything.

If they are trying to, find a different group/guild.

People are allowed to run their groups however they like. You are allowed to join or start groups that cater to your playstyle.

Everyone is free to do what they want. Find a new guild.

Sounds like you’re in a trash guild and it’s time to find a new home.

Feral DPS is not fantastic, but you bring a 3% crit buff to all the warriors who do do fantastic DPS, so they should absolutely want at least one of you in there.

Same for Moonkin and your 3% spell crit aura.

Like I know feral isn’t the best by any means and I cant use any bleeds but if the raid is so easy, why does anyone care?

maybe if these “lot of specs” fall asleep halfway through the raid

But if people can clear MC without a full group of 40 (all of them not even lvl 60) should it even matter that much anymore?

I just want this answered.

I understand that you can bring whoever you want to your raid, if it’s yours.

Classes are imbalanced in this iteration of the game and the muppets obsessed with their favorite hardcore raiders are going to copy their strategies even if the game is stupid easy because everybody wants to be ‘optimal’.

Feral dps is bad though. So don’t expect to be doing anything impressive.

Find a new guild that doesn’t care about min/max. Play your character how you want. If you don’t enjoy a role then what’s the point in even playing right? Don’t stay in a guild that forces you to play a certain way.

Bro.
Your guild has mc on farm already? For the vast majority, it aint gonna be that easy.
Id roll resto and if it is a cakewalk, talk to the gm/raid leader and see if they can allow more slack.
Youre not even 60 yet youre walking in this thing like your guild has rag in the bag.

The bleed thing is kind of legit, but only kind of. A lot of this min/maxing around raid content is premised on the fact that originally in MC for example, bosses only had 8 debuff slots for 40 players. This meant it was important to manage which debuffs were on the boss so you didn’t push off a 5 stack of Sunder or a 5 stack of Winter’s Chill with something dumb like a Deep Wounds or Mortal Strike (why Arms warriors weren’t taken to raids).

With Classic, we have the v1.12 model, which now has 16 debuff slots so while the issue isn’t completely gone, its also nowhere as restrictive as it was originally.

So yea your damage will be objectively bad, relative to other classes, but again, that’s not why you bring a Feral druid in the first place.

You bring a Feral Druid, or Boomkin, for the utility–that’s it.

Fellow Feral cat here. I feel your pain, but you know what? There’s always going to be a special brand of idiot that is going to find something to complain about. Elitists just want you to feel bad because they feel bad.

This argument is pretty silly honestly, even in vanilla you’d be expected to spec healing for raids as a hybrid or you wouldn’t raid. Now that the game is essentially figured out the chances of playing niche specs in raids is even lower.

It’s understandable if your guild is lacking healers.
