Let’s talk about the meta and non meta classes and what it does to the game.
When people start to play a MMORPG game does they choose a character that fits their fantasy style example magic, sword, dark magic and so on.
And WoW isn’t a exception, people like to play what feel the most true to them.
But as soon that you hit max level in WoW and want to try endgame does the meta wall hit people, do you play survival or destro? Holy priest or ww monk? Please change role, class, do what’s best for the metrics!
When people get pushed from their class/role due to unbalanced classes do people get demotivated to play the game at all.
Take balance druid as example, you push max in a burst with Cleve and get 35-50k dmg and then a survival hunter Cleve with 100+k dmg with two buttons, this make the person that play balance feel less valuable and it leave a bad taste in the mouth!
If you do want more people to enjoy endgame do you need to balance both the classes and content so only skill matters.
every spec should be comparable at equal skill level and should pull ahead by about 5-10% on their niche (massive aoe pull, 2t cleave, st, etc etc) but not 30% +
The class balance is horrendous in this game in every aspect. I don’t expect it to change. Destro locks and survival hunters were doing so much more damage than everyone else it was laughable. Destro locks on average did 100% more damage than boomkins in season 3 and we didn’t see any boomkin buffs or destro nerfs all season.
I finally quit halfway through season 3 because I was appalled by their lack of effort in balancing. Something simple that would take them two seconds to look at and we don’t even hear a word. Meanwhile ele shamans got nerfed before the season even started for a very vague reason.
No rhyme or reason really. They just do whatever they feel like
I could not agree more with you! It is really terrible! I can’t play meta just for meta, it makes me wanna log off the game rather then max the dps metric!
Destro and survival do still make 100% more dps in aoe and that is after “nerfs”. Do the devs even play their game at all? Probably not!
Well they’re going to be unreasonable. I’m about to start just going on wowhead and looking up a tier list before the season starts. I usually give them the benefit of the doubt that yea my class won’t be meta, but it will at least be competitive. But after what happened in season 3, I don’t think they’re given that benefit anymore
Spec choice shouldn’t matter more than skill or gear. It’s pretty disheartening to put up a 90 percentile parse and nearly get doubled on the meters by someone putting up a 75 percentile.
If all the gear drops were twice as good for one spec as another, would that be acceptable? Because that’s essentially what’s happening. Why should they get rewarded so much more for the same effort?
It’s punishing for the type of player that plays a spec because it’s their favorite spec and it encourages people to play specs they may not want to. And that alone is a serious quality of experience issue.
Yes can we please get some buffs to the non meta specs. Its season 4 that is a fake season. What is the harm in letting people have fun and enjoy their character instead of feeling bad and never being invited to keys and other content cause they are not the few meta specs.
I just can not get excited for all these new Dragon Flight talent trees when they leave the live game in the current brokenly unbalanced state. You cant promise a great future with a dumpster fire burning behind you.
Idk. From my experience, spec choice matters a lot at the beginning of a season. But you’re also supposed to get as much IO as you can ASAP. If you can do that, you should be fine.
Even in 15s where comp doesn’t matter you’re going to have a hard time getting into groups if you’re off meta. If you pug a lot, you really shouldn’t play meme specs. You know the ones. I genuinely cannot recommend that in good faith. At least, if pushing rating is your main concern.
Balance in these last 2 seasons has been utter trash. It’s probably the worst ever as far as I can remember. Anyone can feel free correct me on that.
It’s good to see surv finally get some shine but they’ll be nerfed soon enough. In DF the meta is probably going to be the usual suspects all over again.
It’s also against the ToS for masked profanity. You know … the rules? That silly set of guidelines that for some odd reason gets STRICTLY applied to some people (+cough cough+) and not to others.
clear misunderstanding on how keys levels and specs damage profiles works.
IF you did, you would know that perfect balance across all key level is not possible unless you homogenize all specs and classes. then its not an mmo anymore.
again, class balance only matters in your 25+ keys
This should not even be a thing. Why can’t they play their game and balance all classes so people can play whatever class they enjoy instead of feeling pushed into a role that they don’t like?
So you think that 100% more aoe dmg is fun play? They could balance the classes better if they separated the raid and m+ talent tree. Now they have to balance both raid and m+ on same tree and it is truly a impossible task imo!
Who knew tier sets on top of unbalanced conduits on top of legendary on top of covenant unity and covenant ability would cause power discrepancies between specs and classes that all have different masteries and toolkits that interact with borrowed powers differently
Still hilarious to me some specs get conduits that increase their damage or healing by 80% while others get 5% aoe healing on a 2.5 second cast or extra healing on 3 casts once every 3 minutes
You do clearly don’t understand the game. It isn’t any news that both destro and survival has been and still are totally broken.
How can you call it skill to press two buttons and a hunter for skill? Should it reward 100% more dmg then other classes in example? That is just bad design!
I was floored when an arcane mage absolutely obliterated the meters on a +2 I ran yesterday. (Fresh tank alt, baby keys are my bread n butter for now.) You really can do passably-well on anything in this game. That mage did easily triple overall what most of the DPS in +2s will do. And if you ask wowhead arcane is the dead-bottom never-touch-it spec right now lol.
This is the first time survival has ever been meta. It will be balanced in the xpac prepatch. Let them have this one sliver of awesomeness. It will be over soon enough.
