Class answer in Q&A is frustrating

I think Blizzard needs to find a middle line for classes, their design philosophy should not be have same abilities for 3 expansions straight and have “deep systems” to advance progressing. What progression? Azerite armor plain sucks.

I refuse to believe you guys are happy with how classes are playing, every single class literally builds up a different colored resource and just spends it. Azerite armor does nothing to make classes more meaningful and there has not been a single blue thread talking about classes since expansion released. So many classes still feel broken and useless, like how is this possible? Are you planning on exporting wow to mobile? There is no reason we should only have “4-5” meaningful buttons. We have not had any talents in a while, no progression to our classes, nothing. As someone who has played wow since TBC I just have to say you guys disappoint me.

I am not even bringing up the systems of bfa which has made a lot of people leave in masses. Do you not realize that you can pump out as much content as you want but if we do not have fun with our character, I personally will stop doing them. I honestly think Blizzard is wrong with their vision to class design, I’m so frustrated and disappointed with how wow is progressing.

I was telling my girlfriend yesterday how hunters used to have Aspects, warriors Stances, paladins Seals, dk’s Presences. She didn’t say “wow thats confusing and lots of buttons” she said that sounds cool.

Right there is your biggest disconnect, these pruned abilities and class systems were fun and cool, and if slightly homogenized were still flavorful enough to feel unique. A Ret switching between Seal of Truth and Seal of command in a dungeon WAS A FUN SYSTEM, it let me choose to blow up the meters on aoe packs then switch over for bosses. It was fun and added a level of micromanagement to specs which are sorely needed.

I am also still waiting for Artifact Gear to present any sort of gameplay change at all. None of my 4 120’s modify their existing gameplay due to AG.

He also said months down the road it will get cooler.

“months”.

I don’t understand what you want… you want them to feel different? But other people want them to do the same type of damage in every situation? Your not having fun on them or what?

I don’t get it either. It seems to me that everytime Ion is asked about classes he reverts to talking about balance instead of actual fun design.

I don’t care about balance! Well, I mean I do, but I don’t need my spec to be on top all of the time. As long as I can compete, that is what matters to me.

The problem is that our classes just get gutted time and time again, and nothing gets added. It gets boring to push the same button for years without any change. Class changes, new spells, new animations, and new effects are the things I look forward to the most in new expansions. Oh well… It’s all about balance I guess (and they can’t even get that right)

You really thought it was fun to stance change? I don’t miss that.

What I’m most annoyed by is the fact they claimed to have stepped back from pruning for BfA. Meanwhile, Resto Druid lost spells and passives, we all lost our artifact abilities (I don’t count them being moved to talents because you have to spec into them now), and what they gave back seemed to mostly be utility spells.

I don’t provide a lot of utility in raids right now as a Resto Druid. No shield to save someone from death, no totems, no physical damage debuff, no life grip, no buff. And then they decided not give Heart of the Wild back because “Druids have too much utility as it is”. Maybe Stampeding Roar in two other specs, but I feel underwhelming in raid because I don’t bring a damn thing.

For them to sit there and say they pulled back on pruning infuriates me because I feel even more gutted than Legion. And I hope they decide to look into it more, though I doubt it, because I can’t keep losing spells every expansion.

when you play the same exact spec for 3 xpacs it gets boring dude

Seals were never cool. Auras were though.

Um yea. I don’t play just one character though. I have ally and horde alts at 120. They all feel different enough. Why not play an alt?

I can see where it’s a lot easier to maintain when you’re releasing another expansion. In the past they probably needed full teams of people to discuss what new abilities they were going to add/remove. Now they just give you the same abilities you already had and then add a replaceable treadmill item like the Heart of Azeroth or Artifact weapon to complete your class toolkit. It worked pretty well in Legion because the artifact actually changed your rotation or spell priority. The Heart of Azeroth is a stat stick and very little else.

I could see how that would be very appealing if you needed to cut things down from “Paladin Class Team” and “Priest Class Team” to “Class Team”. It shows in the results.

I loved it, it was like a choice of using Divine Storm or Templars verdict. I had a choice to make and was rewarded for making the correct decision. The only one I didn’t really like was the DK Presences because as a Frost or Blood DK I was im Unholy presence the majority of the time which felt wrong, but that was just tuning.

One class getting pruned some doesn’t mean they didn’t step back on it. Classes like hunters and paladins got things back for example.

Meh I like pressing one button instead of 2. I don’t miss my totems at all. You had to set them up alot during movement fights. I get to focus more on damage then stance changing.

Right, but still others lost things. They still pruned an unnecessary amount between Legion and BfA. There was no reason to, and when their response to people being upset about their classes is “But we took a step back on pruning!” it doesn’t feel sincere.

I don’t understand how blizz considers the classes remotely good right now. I thought they’d have a road map of improvements but it seems the class team is MiA.

I liked both, switching between Truth and Command throughout dungeons were tons of fun. Now by the time seals left they had changed from 3.0, I don’t mean changing your seal every 3 gcd’s I mean changing your seal to command for an aoe mob pack, and sotruth for a single pack.

They were different and they changed their design since they have to balance “36” specs, half of them aren’t even properly balanced(looking at spriests, shamys specifically). I’m okay if they go this way but at least have some sort of uniqueness to them, there is nothing unique about them, we are also stuck with the same spells and abilities for a while now.

Also their balance sucks, since M+ is what people mostly do now, its all dh’s, rogues, mages, dks. Even with their philosophy of classes they are doing a terrible job at it.

I want uniqueness back or at least give us something new and cool, having the same stuff for years and when these “deep systems” fail so hard it just gets boring and frustrating.

I’d give anything to be able to play my old Range SV spec for the last 3 expansions, the class was fun to play, the classes are boring now and its not even through one expansion yet. I’ve seen more people quit because they got tried of having to relearn their class every time, the game and challenge should change but you the hero should remain the consistence thought it all (well growing some at least and not getting dumber and weaker like we have been, forgetting how to do spells\skills etc)
