I wasn’t sure on the best title- But basically, I still don’t understand why a race can’t play as any class, and generally this goes for any game. I mean, let’s take a example,
Let’s say a draenei, why can’t a draenei be a Warlock? The common answer is “because they are holy” but… ANYONE can fall to the darkness, which we have clearly seen, because there ARE bad Draenei. It is just taking away a level of character customization from the player.
I mean, like a void elf paladin may not make sense, if you wanna think of it in the way of something evil cannot harness the power of light… But, even then I think that could be overlooked for player imagination and customization.
I feel it’s time to remove the limitation for this, or at least GREATLY reduce it.

yeah I know what you mean. There are plenty of NPCs which break the rule too.

Yeah, exactly. I just feel like it’s time to get rid of it.
I mean, I’m even for allowing any race to be any faction, for a even deeper level of character customization, but I do understand that would likely split server communities quite a bit, in a way.

Some class/race combo’s at the moment just doesn’t make any sense at all at the moment. NPC’s are the biggest one at this, because NPC’s like to prove Blizzard wrong.

What does a race stand for, and what does a class stand for?
I’m still trying to wrap my head around Lightforged Draenei Death Knights… it seems to go against everything they believe… but mention Tauren Rogue and it’s fire and pitch forks

Remember when you couldn’t roll a Warrior on a Blood Elf

No, it’s not time. The class/race restrictions adds depth to the game, it means race is more then just a cosmetic choice. Why can’t draenei be warlocks? We just had an entire expansion for why they can’t. They would be killed on sight by everyone else.

Becoming a death knight isn’t really a choice.

It would be cool. I hope blizz considers adding realms where there is no lore restrictions in the future.

Not really. All warlocks would be kill on sight even you by that logic?
Yes really, we just had an entire expansion about what happens to Draenei who are exposed to the fel. Draenei go through a physical change when exposed to the fel.

Everyone is supposed to go through a change. Even humans. There is no model for everyone. Anyway they would look normal like anyone unless exposed to high doses of fel. Look at the high elf warlocks vs the fel saturated demon blood elves. The dose of fel is what sets those appearances apart.
Easy answer : Racials.
Sadly this game is a racial focus game ; imagine a druid human ? will be op or an orc paladin ? .
There are no high elf warlocks, we have blood elf warlocks though and they have green eye because of the fel.

I think the idea is we’re suppose to be the paragons of our chosen race. Granted why we have Warlocks in the first place if this is the case is questionable.

Yeah let’s have the race that nearly corrupted a font of holy energy and is typically rejected by the light become champions of the light.
I like having race/class combo restrictions, especially when there are lore reasons for it.
And before anyone mentions tauren/draenei rogues, that is one race class combo that needs to be added. Their reasons against it are dumb at this point.

Every Draenei pc is a draenei aboard the exodar. They fled their planet because of fel infused Eredar. Lightforge Draenei spent 10k years fighting the fel and seeing what happens when their own kind use it. No chance either would allow warlocks to remain in their ranks.

Check dalaran in the silver covenant place in Legion. You have a high elf warlock right there as your warlock trainer.
