Clarification on MC 40 man

I know some still think that MC is hard capped to 20man as the devs claimed it would be the case.

It’s not though. You can just 40man it on any difficulty. Is this intended or not?

Ugh. I just made one about this too, I cannot find the answer anywhere.

Is MC going to remain 40 or are you guys going to set it to max 20?

I wish they would let us know.

they said it’s tuned for 20 but you can bring up to 40… same with ony

No, they previously said that for ony and world bosses. But they said MC was going to stay 20. Unless they very recently said differently.

pretty sure they said you can bring more, but why does that matter? Like if your group sucks or your guild has 21 ppl sign up bring more ppl if not than dont

They did not. They said MC would be 20 - the others 20+.

But we can definitly enter with more then 20 in MC right now so it’s not clear what is Blizzard stance since they originally said it was 20 man and the rest was flex.

so what’s the problem? why is bringing extra a bad thing?

The problem is that we do not know if it is going to STAY like this. We have about 27 people, if all 27 people are expecting to come to our raid next weekend, and blizzard changes it to 20 mid week without posting ANYTHING, then 7 people have 2 days to find a pug instead of a week.

i can see that.
makes sense.

surely Blizzard will do the right thing and fix it without causing such scheduling conflicts.

I don’t see a problem with allowing more than 20

Bring more people to make it easier, but less chance at loot.

If it’s a bug, I’m not mad at it.

They should just leave it as a flex raid and stick with that going forward.

flex causes cheese sizes for breakpoints.

this is better. there’s no artificial limits.

I certainly did not say there was a “problem” with it, I just want verification that this is not going to be hot fixed without ANY word from Devs in the middle of the raid week. Taking more than 20 is great, people will not need to sit.

its not that 40man isnt cool or well 20 and more but it does not seem to be intended based on what they said in june.

If people do not get clarification and this keeps on being a thing for another week then people assume its being intended, thus raid guilds with lets say 28 raiders will just 28man and if then this get “fixed” they are having a problem.

it should be clarified.

still havent seen anything from bliz

Lol you know WoW players will complain about everything.

But there is one main issue here and at least one secondary issue.

  1. People just want to know if it was intended to allow more than 20 for planning purposes, guilds are in a weird grey area where they might have 21-25 or so sign up and don’t know if they have to bench people or can take more if they want. Right now guilds are making roster/signup decisions based on ambiguous information.

  2. Allowing more than 20 might be unsatisfying for regular raiders (as in, not ones making the decision) because suddenly they find themselves in a guild or even pug run of 21+ people in a raid where the quantity of loot drops is scaled for 20. As a personal anecdote my guild brought 21 last night and the extra person was a mage who won two pieces and was also dead half the time because they weren’t prepared/expecting to be raiding that night.

Would really love if it stayed scaled at 20 but allowed up to 40. We have a few extra members over 20 in our guild that we would love to not have to bench every week.

I didn’t expect it to work this way but there hasn’t been any communication about if it’s going to be reverted or not.

id be find keeping it > 20 but only HL3 be 20 (maybe even hl2 but idc)
