Clarification on dishonorable kills at rank 0?

how does that work exactly?

someone on reddit 2 days ago said: “While people are normally scared of killing civilians in Tarren Mill, dishonorable kills don’t matter in the first week (because you have no rating to lose) so it’s safe to join the zerg as long as you aren’t bothered by the fact that DKs go on your permanent record in the honor window.”

is this true?

negative rank :expressionless: civilians start to boo and throw tomatoes at you

It is not true, reddit is WRONG as usual:

“ Please note that decay is not the same as the penalties incurred by earning dishonorable kills, which is now the only way a player can lose rank progress.”

Blue post

Negative ranks was actually going to be a thing originally. Thankfully, the devs saw that it would just encourage griefing and walked it back. Imagine all the rank -14 rogues running around.

this just addresses if you already have rank, not rank 0.

this doesn’t contradict the reddit post.

The key points are this:

  • everyone is currently rank 0 with no rank points
  • you can’t have negative rank points
  • a dishonorable kill removes rank points immediately, possibly deranking you.
  • honor is not affected by dishonorable kills.
  • rank points are not calculated from honor gained 'til the end of the wow week (tuesday AM)

ChatGPT says that it lowers the honor you get from kills going forward for the rest of the week by 5% per DK. I have 2 DKs from raids already, so done with raids now.
edit: chatgpt sucks

every DK = 1 year of extra honor grinding required :expressionless:

i haven’t seen any empirical evidence for this

I have 14 DHK’s and my honour per kill has not been affected

It wont be, it doesnt do anything if you have no RP.

You currently have no RP.
