Circle of Healing

Do you guys think I should try to strive for getting the circle of healing talents, vs some of the other talents available?

You probably don’t need them if you’re going for a Lightweaver build and a Lightweaver build does not scale well with haste at all. You could do more healing pumping out boosted Heals with Trail of Light cleave healing for you especially in M+. It’s enough to stop at Holy Word: Sanctify to give another Holy Word for your kit.

There’s bound to be a real race to figure out whether the Lightweaver/single target talents is as powerful as it was in Shadowlands at 70 vs. the alternative PoM/PoH/CoH/renew AoE talents, and sidebar is Divine Word Sanctify as crazy as it seemed?

The discords are probably more up to date? Glanced at Jak’s comments and he doesn’t even have very good arguments for his builds yet.

I don’t think it’s going to be that simple when the expansion comes though. It’ll probably come down to what your raid team needs most. Lightweaver far outclasses the AoE build when it comes to keeping up tanks or 1-3 target soak mechanics. AoE build is really great at raid wide damage or rot fights.

Both of these styles of healing can be competitive to other healers that can specialize in those forms of healing, so composition is going to be a much larger factor than before. A raid team with 2 holy priests for example could feasibly use one of each.

Right that’s what I meant, in Shadowlands the single target healing was competitive with other ST niche healers, will it continue to be, will it even be notably stronger perhaps… or you know as history has had it a bit too often is it going to all fall apart and be jack of all trades and yeah, just mediocre.

It’d be really cool if it was viable in both niches just from the new talent system, that would be the dream this is supposed to achieve.

I think Lightweaving will still be one of the strongest single target healers, the only question would be mana due to many more flash heals being included. There are some good mana restore options available to us now, though.

This is the closest thing to what you’re describing if you’re looking for maximum flexibility in raid. Has 2 flex points to put wherever and is viable in both niches, though probably less aoe healing than a pure aoe healer.

The thing about AoE vs Lightweaver healing however is likely going to be secondary stat allocation because from what I’ve tested, AoE scales harder with haste while Lightweaver still wants Mastery and Crit/Verse. Cooldown reduction and Renew tick rates are very big for the AoE build.

Edit: I think people are too attracted to the glimmer and shine of Divine Word : Sanctify, which is really good, that they forget Divine Word: Serenity exists which is also really good. It gives

  • 30% more Healing
  • 20% more crit chance
  • 20% reduced cost

to Heals and Flash heals and is usable every minute. This is what will makes Lightweaver probably the strongest single target healer by far.

Haha, I just asked about it because as I was doing the dummies in beta 2 things made an impression - of course the Empyreal Blaze talent (although why it’s designed so clunky instead of a normal nuke is beyond me)… and the DW: Sanctify when I got around to it.

I hadn’t felt like that about anything I’d seen in priest since the first time I saw HW:Salv in action, and before that Cascade. It did feel magic compared to everything else.
