People love to label the cinematic that was release at gamescom and thinking that it’s not the real “real” cinematic. Like are you people serious? You people also called the anduin war within announcement cinematic not the real cinematic when it was the real release.
And here we are again labeling the current cinematic that was released not the real deal when it is. And always thinking that there is a second cinematic that is the real one when the real one was released.
Havent seen anyone make that claim, but I agree, I think it would be silly to expect another cinematic

There’s a lot of people complaining that it didn’t give enough information. The problem with that is that it wasn’t a trailer. The first piece of media from a new WoW expansion has ALWAYS been the opening cinematic - which is always some sort of story piece and isn’t a trailer. Blizzard delivered exactly what they promised - the opening cinematic.
To be honest, I didn’t expect any more information until the deep dives this weekend. I was pleasantly surprised to find more info popping up on sites like WoWhead within MINUTES of the cinematic reveal.
People just like to hate on stuff because they think that it makes them look cool to sound like everyone else. Like all the people who complain about how Liadrin looks. Like, bruh, you could get a girl a quarter as attractive as that and you’re whining about her? Seriously?

Do the trailers actually mean anything in the way of telling us anything about the story outside the obvious?

The TWW cinematic definitely made it seem like it was going to be addressed. In my eyes at least.
I’m not sure who the “you people” are but to be fair I could understand people being unsure if there was more coming after the anduin thrall cinematic due to the wording that metzen used when he introduced it.
We all knew this cinematic will be about Silvermoon. So the expectations were really high.
But there are not only problems with the visuals , but with the story too.
Liadrin‘s struggle is basically the same as after Arthas corrupted the Sunwell. Back then, she felt unworthy and abandoned by the Light when her people lost their source of power. In the Cinematic she‘s doing the same - doubting herself but still begging the Light/Sunwell to help her people. Why she has the same crisis of Faith?
We didn’t see the might of Silvermoon or the blood elves at all. No magisters unleashing spells, no rangers, not much details. City Guards….
It makes the defense look way smaller than what Silvermoon‘s true strength should be.
We have literally had a second cinematic added since at least Legion for every expansion. I expect we will see one the closer we are to Midnight.
Guilt and shame I guess. She presumably feels unworthy to beseech the light in such a way because she was the first to steal the light from M’uru. She was angry and spiteful about it, and led other blood elves down the same dark path. She then later learned that M’uru had willingly allowed it to happen because she knew that it was part of the path to the blood elves’ salvation.
“Our arrogance was unpardonable. We damned one of the most noble beings of all. We may never atone for this sin.”
Then when she witnessed the sunwell reignited with the light of M’uru’s core she was absolutely overwhelmed by the feeling of love and grace.
“Blessed ancestors! I feel it… so much love… so much grace… there are… no words… impossible to describe…”
At least that was my interpretation.
All I said in that vein is that there would likely be another longer trailer closer to release. Wow always does at least 2 cinematic trailers for expansions, the first one being the one that appears in-game.
It’s also different in that it’s not tinged by the feeling of having been abandoned at the darkest hour anymore (and it’s far more of a prayer to save her people than to save herself)
It’s just look like Anduin‘s struggles with the Light. But Liadrin don’t have the same reasons to lose Faith.
It feels more like reusing the same plot.
