I’m all for the Cindermane Charger at the Trading Post. As a collector, I’d like to see ALL rare/unobtainable mounts, transmog, toys and TCG items come to the Trading Post to be honest. I got Cindermane back in 2016 and SO many of my WoW friends have wanted this mount ever since it was removed in 2019. I’m super happy for them, that they finally have the opportunity to ride this amazing mount now too.
What I don’t like, however, is the fact that the Feat of Strength achievement tied to the Cindermane Charger, “Friends In Places Yet Even Higher Than That” , has been granted to some upon obtaining the mount via the Trading Post. I think that any Feats of Strength and/or achievements for mounts & items in general granted through the Trading Post should be reserved for those who ACTUALLY obtained said mounts & items by way of their original means.
Again, I am 100% for mounts and items to be added to the Trading Post… I am simply questioning whether the respective Feats of Strength and other achievements that relate to these items should also be granted by way of the Trading Post considering that the steps/actions taken outlined in said achievements were not completed to gain the actual items.
Thoughts?
EDIT: Before anyone makes the point that, yes, achievements have a date attached to them and that, alone, could simply differentiate between those who obtained a mount or item via the Trading post… Please note that the achievement text/description reads, for example: “Obtain a Cindermane Charger mount through the Recruit-a-Friend program.” The description is literally false for anyone obtaining the mount through means other than the Recruit-a-Friend program. In the future, I hope Blizz takes better care to preserve the achievement-end of Trading Post items.
I originally earned it with a real friend too. The achievement description might not be quite in line with the trigger, which I suspect is simply for learning the mount. I was disappointed to see this was the case with the FoS but at least you can compare dates if it really matters to you : /
And anyone that cares (who is that, exactly??) would know that for the reason you already stated: Achvs are timestamped.
The fact Achvs are timestamped solves A LOT of issues when it comes to bringing back retired items. It literally solves EVERYTHING as it proves when – EXACTLY WHEN – you got something.
How the Achv is awarded for the Cindermane, while I agree isn’t perfect, ultimately doesn’t matter because of the timestamp.
I also noticed this. I suspect it’s a bug as it is very clear from the achievement description that the achieve was only meant to be awarded to those players who got it through the RAF system.
That being said, the RAF system has always been a joke as 95% of people who have gotten rewards from it probably did so by recruiting themselves on another account.
When I did RAF twice during my WoW career, I did it the first time with someone I knew at the time. The 2nd…yeah, I recruited myself. It’s just so much easier that way. I have done the same in other MMOs, too. FF XIV, and Rift (many years ago at this point). RIP OG Rift.
It was a lot of fun. The class design was great, and I loved the zonewide Rift invasions. There was more to love but I’d be going on and on for a while.
I don’t really care one way or the other, but I do think it was a strange choice keeping the achievement tied to the mount. They literally just copied and pasted the entire thing to the Trading Post.
Nope, that’s the achievement attached to the mount. Recruit a friend mount, recruit a friend achievement. If OP is even correct and Blizzard kept that in, which I doubt. This is what happens when you hand out old exclusives to the masses, and I’m here for every minute of it.
Tbh, I loved the fact that I got the feat too. I don’t care if you technically didn’t do what it says. Feats of strength are still content in the game that are nice to have. Bringing that back is sweet.
Besides, Recruiting a friend wasn’t a huge accomplishment.
Edit: Holy moly, it was actually hotfixed according to WoWhead, but the game still says I have it.
I just checked. I did not get the Feat of Strength for getting it via the trader. I bought it around 5pm Eastern so I’m assume it was either hot fixed or not actually happening.
