Chronicles 4 shadowlands

Shadowlands will not be retconned but instead ingrained into existing lore and narrative.

That’s only expected.
The damage is done, it will be hard to backpedal from it while not looking stupid.

Disappointing but not unexpected.

Its now part of the story of Anduin so yeah…it was going to be stuck there.

As I am sure TWW has his comeback story. He needs a fall, to comeback from.

Sorry fellow paladins. We all get to choose. Soul uber drivers…or zombies. At least they said they won’t brain wash anymore if soul uber driver selected. yay…I guess.

anyone that actually thought they might retcon out shadowlands is delusional.

I’m sure they’ll tighten up the story and fill in a few holes in chronicle though.

There isn’t enough bondo in this world, or the all the multiverses they’ve pulled out of their butt to fix those holes.

Like…why didn’t we take some azerite to other side. where did all of it go?

its the end of universe…against a robot. The “nuclear” option could be guilt free really.

20 arrows of that and we see where all the meat chunks land.

Hasn’t chronicles already been retconned a few times?

Its a interesting conceot but I don’t think wow will ever have that stable of lore. Never mind SoD existing.

Retconning is a literary device that involves changing facts in a fictional work, while recontextualizing is the process of placing something in a new context. Retconning can recontextualize events and characters, while recontextualizing can change the meaning of something

Retconning an entire expansion was never on the table.

People who thought that were just as delusional as those who thought Classic+ was a thing.

Not that it was ever going to happen, but I’m glad nonetheless.

SoD is kind of this. I think it’s meant to be something like that. Because they are changing and adding content and other things not in Vanilla, not in Classic.

Which is rather ironic, given that Shadowlands itself applied retcons to the other three books in the Chronicles series. :joy: lol

Welp that’s one big gaping wound in the lore WoW will never recover from.

Danuser tried to retcon Chronicles. But he’s gone, and Metzen has effectively un-retconned it.

Nobody is expecting them to retcon Shadowlands. But they could recontextualize things and try to make it make at least a tiny bit of sense. If anyone can do it Metzen can.

The best thing to do is just say the Shadowlands are an artificial construct and not a “real” afterlife.

Go on over to the classic forums with a post titled “sod is classic+” and make sure to duck when they start throwing rocks.

I think that’s because expectations didn’t quite meet reality there.

As will all the other expansions dating back to Warcraft: Orcs and Humans.

Oh and ever day the sun will come up, then about half a day later it will go down.

Shadowlands has been in the story of DF so it makes sense. Malfurion exchanged spots with Ysera so she could return. As well as finishing the story from the Sister’s Tear seed that became Amirdrassil.

Once they tie up loose ends, I don’t expect much more will be mentioned of the Shadowlands, except maybe Denathrius coming back someday.
