Chromietime

When you get to level 59, Chromietime expires. It gives you a quest to return to your major city back on Azeroth from wherever you are. This is nice, but you can’t get the quest to do Dragonflight until you’re level 60. This means, you take the port back to your major city, then have to go back to where you just were to continue questing. On top of that, all of the quests are now “low level” so you get little to no experience for them.

do a couple of dungeons?
pet battles?
archaeology?
pvp?
gathering?

i’ve been getting a full level of xp from 50+ just by doing one lap of any zone and farming ore or herbs

the thing about adventure mode, is it assumes you have the ability to plan ahead.
it’s one of the reasons you can’t access it on your first time through the game.

You’re out of Chromie time at that point, so you can’t do any dungeons at your level.

I had this happen to me several times before I figured out how to keep it from happening. On those characters I had to go to Revendreth to grind mobs and/or gather for the ones that had gathering professions.

The issue is that that quest not only auto appears in your sidebar at 59 and tells you when you reach 60 you will be booted out of Chromie time, but they give you a scroll and tell you to use it now to go back to your capital city. Or if you happen to pass through your capital city often, you get sucked out of Chromie time.

The workaround is to not leave the zone you are in until you hit 60. Make sure you do not go to your capital city for any reason.

how is that even possible?

shouldn’t all of BFA & SL should be available in the dungeon finder?

Once you are out of Chromie time, you can’t do Shadowlands dungeons. They are unavailable to anyone not in Chromie time. Nor can a level 60 queue for Shadowlands normal or heroic dungeons. They are not in the dungeon finder.

I suppose someone might queue for a random BfA dungeon, if they know them all. Not everyone spammed them during BfA. But I don’t know, because I didn’t.

this doesn’t even make sense…

shadowlands content is 50-60.
why would they not be available?

They have acknowledged that this is how it is working. They have not said it is a bug. I assume it was intentional.

In any case, I tried to run into a Shadowlands heroic dungeon. I got booted out with error messages several times before I could get in.

heroics require the max level for the expansion.
you wouldn’t be able to walk into one below 60.

i just checked dungeon finder on a 56, and it’s populated with BFA dungeons as being “at level”.

i haven’t done any SL intro stuff for that character, so i don’t know if that changes anything.

I was on a 60 level character with an ilvl of 275.

Changes to the dungeon finder for levelers are hard to understand. I have heard many complaints, but I have not experienced the many bizarre situations myself. For instance, a level 45 character in Cata Chromie time can do all Classic dungeons, but no Cata ones.

I have heard that high level characters in wrath and BC Chromie time will only get the starter dungeons that level 10’s see.

Also, at the start of the expansion, even a leveler in Shadowlands Chromie time could not queue for a Shadowlands dungeon, not even to do the quests they were still handing out. They did not appear in the dungeon finder. It looks like they fixed at least that.

well… if people don’t want to enter into SL content, BFA scales to 60 now.

there are certainly options.

Are you sure it actually drops you out of Chromie time? I thought the bug (or not bug) was that the message came up a level early. When you hit 60 she pops up again and actually teleports you to Stormwind/Orgrimmar unavoidably. If you don’t click the scroll I think you can continue on your merry way to 60.

Edit: Yeah, so I clicked on the scroll and and it actually has a warning that it will remove you from Chromie time. Just don’t use it.

If you enter your capital city you will be booted out of chromie time, even if you’re passing through using the portal room.

Because they don’t want players who decided not to buy Dragonflight to have the option of continuing to do Shadowlands content and gearing up in heroic dungeons there.
